Permethrin Cream Scabies Treatment - Lyclear 5% Cream 30g

You can use this topical treatment to eliminate scabies mites and their eggs from your skin. The cream contains 5% permethrin, which belongs to a group of medicines called pyrethroids that work by paralysing and killing the scabies mites.

Scabies is a contagious skin condition caused by tiny mites that burrow into your skin, causing intense itching and a rash. This permethrin cream scabies treatment provides an effective solution when applied correctly to the entire body surface.

How Permethrin Works Against Scabies Mites

The active ingredient works by affecting the nervous system of scabies mites, causing paralysis and death. When you apply the cream to your skin, it penetrates into the areas where mites have burrowed and remains active for several hours.

The treatment also kills scabies eggs, helping to prevent reinfestation. Most people require only one application, though your doctor may recommend a second treatment after one week if symptoms persist.

Who Should Use This Scabies Treatment

This treatment is suitable for adults and children over 2 months of age who have been diagnosed with scabies. You should only use this medicine after confirmation of scabies by a healthcare professional, as the symptoms can be similar to other skin conditions.

The cream is particularly appropriate if you:

  • Have confirmed scabies infestation diagnosed by a doctor
  • Are over 2 months of age
  • Can follow the complete application instructions
  • Need treatment for household contacts as recommended by your doctor

Why Choose This Topical Scabies Solution

This formulation provides targeted treatment that remains on your skin long enough to eliminate mites effectively. The cream base allows for even distribution across your body surface and good skin penetration.

Unlike some other treatments, this medicine typically requires only one application for most people. You can find this treatment alongside other skin care solutions that may help manage symptoms during recovery.

Clinical Suitability and Storage Requirements

Store this medicine at room temperature below 25°C and keep it out of reach of children. Do not use the cream after the expiry date printed on the packaging.

You should not use this treatment if you are allergic to permethrin or any other ingredients in the cream. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before use, as special considerations may apply.

This product is a medicine. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using if you have an underlying medical condition or are taking other medicines.

How to Apply Permethrin Cream Correctly

You should apply the cream to clean, dry skin from your neck down to your toes, including the soles of your feet. Pay particular attention to areas between your fingers and toes, under your nails, and around your wrists and ankles where mites commonly burrow.

Massage the cream gently into your skin until it is completely absorbed. You must cover your entire body surface below the neck, even areas that do not appear affected, as mites can be present without visible symptoms.

Treatment Duration and Washing Instructions

Leave the cream on your skin for 8 to 14 hours before washing it off with soap and warm water. You can apply the treatment before bedtime and wash it off the following morning. If you wash your hands during the treatment period, you must reapply cream to your hands and wrists.

After washing off the treatment, put on clean clothes and change your bed linen. Wash all clothing and bedding that you used during the previous few days in hot water to eliminate any remaining mites.
