Daktarin Gold Ketoconazole Cream 2% for Fungal Infections

You can treat fungal skin infections effectively with this topical antifungal medication containing 2% ketoconazole as the active ingredient. This cream targets common fungal conditions including athlete's foot, ringworm, and other dermatophyte infections that affect your skin.

The 15g tube provides sufficient treatment for localised fungal infections. You apply this medication directly to the affected area and surrounding skin to eliminate fungal growth and prevent reinfection.

How Ketoconazole Works Against Fungal Infections

Ketoconazole belongs to a group of medicines called imidazole antifungals. It works by disrupting the cell membrane of fungi, preventing them from growing and reproducing on your skin.

The active ingredient penetrates the affected skin layers where it remains active against fungal organisms. This targeted action helps clear existing infections whilst creating an environment that prevents new fungal growth in the treated area. For comprehensive foot care solutions, you can explore our foot care collection for additional supportive treatments.

Who Can Use This Antifungal Treatment

This ketoconazole cream is suitable for adults and children over 12 years who have confirmed or suspected fungal skin infections. You should use this medication when you have symptoms such as itching, scaling, or redness in affected areas.

The cream is particularly effective for treating:

  • Athlete's foot between toes and on foot surfaces
  • Ringworm infections on body areas
  • Fungal infections in skin folds
  • Dermatophyte infections on hands or feet

Why Choose This Established Antifungal Formula

This formulation has been clinically proven effective against common dermatophyte fungi that cause skin infections. The 2% concentration provides therapeutic levels of ketoconazole whilst remaining suitable for topical application on sensitive skin areas.

The cream base allows for easy application and absorption into affected skin. You can apply this treatment discreetly under clothing or footwear as it absorbs without leaving excessive residue on your skin surface.

Storage and Handling Requirements

You should store this medication below 25°C in a dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep the tube tightly closed when not in use to maintain the stability of the active ingredient.

Do not use this cream after the expiry date printed on the packaging. Keep this medicine out of sight and reach of children to prevent accidental ingestion or misuse.

This product is a medicine. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using if you have an underlying medical condition or are taking other medicines.

How to Apply Ketoconazole Cream Correctly

You should wash and thoroughly dry the affected area before applying this cream. Apply a thin layer to the infected skin and approximately 2cm of surrounding healthy skin. Gently rub the cream in until it is absorbed.

Use this treatment twice daily, typically in the morning and evening, unless your doctor or pharmacist advises otherwise. Continue treatment for at least one week after symptoms have cleared to prevent reinfection.

Treatment Duration and Application Guidelines

You should wash your hands thoroughly after each application unless you are treating a hand infection. For athlete's foot, continue treatment for one week after the infection appears to have cleared.

If your symptoms do not improve after 4 weeks of treatment, or if they worsen during treatment, you should consult your doctor or pharmacist. Do not exceed the recommended application frequency as this will not improve treatment outcomes.
