Night Nurse Liquid for Cold and Flu Relief

Night Nurse is a liquid medicine designed to provide relief from multiple cold and flu symptoms during the night. This formulation combines three active ingredients to help manage the discomfort that can keep you awake when you're unwell. The medicine addresses symptoms including sore throat, headache, fever, aches and pains, runny nose, and tickly cough.

You can find this medicine alongside other treatments in our cold and flu collection, which offers various options for managing seasonal illness symptoms.

How Night Nurse Works to Relieve Symptoms

The medicine contains paracetamol, which helps reduce fever and relieve pain including headaches and general aches. Promethazine hydrochloride acts as an antihistamine that can help dry up runny noses and has sedating properties to aid sleep. Dextromethorphan hydrobromide works as a cough suppressant to help reduce tickly coughs that might disturb your rest.

These ingredients work together to target the range of symptoms that commonly occur with colds and flu, particularly focusing on night-time relief when symptoms can feel more troublesome.

Who Can Use This Medicine

This night nurse liquid is suitable for adults and children over 12 years of age who are experiencing cold and flu symptoms. The medicine is particularly helpful for those whose symptoms are preventing restful sleep.

The medicine may be appropriate if you experience:

  • Sore throat pain and irritation
  • Headaches and general aches and pains
  • Fever and feeling generally unwell
  • Runny nose and tickly cough disrupting sleep

Why Choose Liquid Formulation

The liquid form allows for easy swallowing when you have a sore throat, which can make taking tablets uncomfortable. The measured dose ensures you receive the correct amount of each active ingredient. The liquid format also means the medicine can start working relatively quickly compared to some solid dose forms.

This formulation is particularly convenient for night-time use when you want relief that doesn't require chewing or struggling with tablets when feeling unwell.

Storage and Clinical Considerations

Store the medicine in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging. Once opened, the medicine should be used within the timeframe specified on the label.

This medicine contains ingredients that may cause drowsiness, so it should only be used at bedtime. Do not drive or operate machinery after taking this medicine, and avoid alcohol while using it.

This product is a medicine. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using if you have an underlying medical condition or are taking other medicines.

Recommended Dosage for Adults and Children

Adults and children over 16 years should take 20ml at bedtime. Children aged 12-15 years should take 10ml at bedtime. Do not exceed the stated dose and do not take more than one dose in 24 hours. Use the measuring cup provided to ensure accurate dosing.

Take the medicine just before going to bed as it may cause drowsiness. Do not take during the day or if you need to remain alert. Allow at least 24 hours between doses if you need to take the medicine on consecutive nights.

How to Take Night Nurse Safely

Shake the bottle well before use to ensure the ingredients are properly mixed. Pour the correct dose into the measuring cup provided rather than estimating the amount. Take the medicine neat - do not dilute with water or other liquids unless specifically advised.

Do not take this medicine with other paracetamol-containing products, other cough and cold medicines, or alcohol. If symptoms persist for more than 7 days or worsen, consult your doctor or pharmacist. Do not use for more than 7 consecutive days without medical advice.

Possible Side Effects of Night Nurse
