Hycosan Night Ointment for Overnight Eye Care

What is Hycosan Night Ointment?

You can use this preservative-free eye ointment to provide long-lasting moisture and protection for your eyes overnight. The ointment contains sodium hyaluronate, a naturally occurring substance that helps retain moisture on the surface of your eyes. This formulation is specifically designed for nighttime use when your eyes need extended lubrication during sleep.

The hycosan night ointment comes in a 5g tube and offers a thicker consistency compared to eye drops, making it ideal for prolonged contact with your eye surface. You'll find this particularly beneficial if you experience dry eyes that worsen during sleep or upon waking.

How Does This Eye Ointment Work?

The active ingredient sodium hyaluronate works by forming a protective film over your eye surface. This film helps prevent moisture loss and provides a barrier against environmental factors that can cause irritation. The ointment's viscous nature ensures it remains in contact with your eyes for several hours, providing sustained relief throughout the night.

Your natural tear film can become insufficient due to various factors including age, environmental conditions, or certain medications. This ointment supplements your natural tears and helps restore the balance needed for comfortable vision and eye health.

Who Can Benefit from Overnight Eye Treatment?

You may find this ointment helpful if you experience symptoms of dry eye syndrome, particularly those that are more pronounced at night or in the morning. The product is suitable for adults and can be used alongside other eye care treatments as part of your daily routine.

People who spend long hours in air-conditioned environments, use digital screens extensively, or live in dry climates often benefit from nighttime eye lubrication. You should consider this treatment if you wake up with gritty, uncomfortable eyes or experience difficulty opening your eyes in the morning due to dryness.

  • Provides overnight moisture retention for dry eyes
  • Preservative-free formulation reduces risk of irritation
  • Suitable for long-term use when needed
  • Compatible with contact lens wear (remove lenses before application)

Storage and Handling Information

You should store this ointment at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Keep the tube tightly closed when not in use to maintain the product's sterility and effectiveness. The ointment should be discarded 12 weeks after first opening, even if product remains in the tube.

Always wash your hands thoroughly before handling the tube or applying the ointment to prevent contamination. Avoid touching the tip of the tube to any surface, including your eye or eyelid, to maintain sterility.

This product is a medicine. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using if you have an underlying medical condition or are taking other medicines.

How to Apply Eye Ointment Correctly

You should apply a small amount of ointment to the inside of your lower eyelid before bedtime. Pull down your lower eyelid gently to create a small pocket, then squeeze approximately 1cm of ointment into this space. Close your eye gently and blink a few times to distribute the ointment evenly across your eye surface.

Remove contact lenses before application if you wear them. You can reinsert soft contact lenses 15 minutes after application, though it's generally recommended to use this product at bedtime when lenses are not needed.

Frequency and Duration of Treatment

You can use this ointment once daily, typically at bedtime, or as directed by your healthcare provider. The thick consistency may temporarily blur your vision, which is why nighttime application is preferred. If you need to use the product during the day, avoid driving or operating machinery until your vision clears.

You may use this treatment for as long as needed to manage your dry eye symptoms. Many people find regular use provides cumulative benefits, with symptoms improving over time with consistent application.
