Carnation Verruca Caps for Effective Wart Treatment

You can treat stubborn verrucas and warts on your feet with Carnation Verruca Caps, a targeted topical treatment designed for home use. These medicated caps contain salicylic acid, which works by softening and breaking down the hard skin tissue that forms verrucas and warts.

Each cap is pre-loaded with the correct amount of medication and features a protective foam ring that shields healthy skin from the treatment area. This design ensures you apply the medication precisely where needed whilst protecting surrounding tissue from irritation.

How Salicylic Acid Removes Verrucas

The active ingredient works by causing the outer layers of the verruca to peel away gradually over several days. Salicylic acid is a keratolytic agent, meaning it dissolves the protein keratin that makes up the hardened skin of warts and verrucas.

You apply the medicated cap directly to the affected area, where it remains in contact with the verruca for up to 48 hours. During this time, the medication penetrates the tissue and begins the process of breaking down the abnormal skin growth. Regular application over several weeks typically results in complete removal of the verruca.

Suitable for Most Adults and Children

These verruca caps are appropriate for treating common warts and verrucas in adults and children over 2 years of age. The treatment is particularly effective for plantar warts (verrucas) on the soles of feet, which can be painful when walking.

The caps work well for people who need a convenient treatment option that doesn't require daily application. You may find this treatment suitable if you have tried other foot care treatments without success, as the sustained contact method often proves more effective than liquid applications.

  • Treats verrucas and common warts on hands and feet
  • Suitable for adults and children over 2 years
  • Each cap provides 48 hours of continuous treatment
  • Protective foam ring prevents damage to healthy skin

Precise Application Reduces Side Effects

The foam ring design minimises contact between the medication and healthy skin, reducing the risk of irritation and chemical burns that can occur with liquid salicylic acid preparations. This targeted approach means you're less likely to experience pain or damage to the skin surrounding your verruca.

Each cap contains a standardised dose of medication, eliminating guesswork about how much treatment to apply. This consistency helps ensure effective treatment whilst reducing the risk of over-application that could cause unnecessary skin damage.

Storage and Treatment Duration

You should store the caps in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and keep them out of reach of children. Most verrucas require 6-12 weeks of treatment, though some may resolve sooner depending on their size and depth.

You'll typically see the verruca becoming softer and smaller after the first few applications. Complete treatment usually involves applying a new cap every 2-3 days until the verruca has completely disappeared and healthy skin has grown back.

This product is a medicine. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using if you have an underlying medical condition or are taking other medicines.

How to Apply Carnation Verruca Caps

You should clean and dry the affected area thoroughly before application. Remove the cap from its backing and place it directly over the verruca, ensuring the medicated pad makes full contact with the wart. Press the foam ring firmly against your skin to create a secure seal around the treatment area.

Leave the cap in place for up to 48 hours, keeping it dry during this time. You can cover it with a plaster if needed for additional protection, particularly if you're wearing shoes or socks. After 48 hours, remove the cap and soak the treated area in warm water for a few minutes to soften the skin.

Treatment Schedule and Removal Process

You should gently remove any loose, white skin using a pumice stone or emery board after soaking. This helps the next application penetrate more effectively. Apply a new cap every 2-3 days, repeating this process until the verruca has completely disappeared.

You may need to continue treatment for 6-12 weeks depending on the size and depth of your verruca. Stop treatment once healthy, normal skin has grown back in the treated area. If you notice no improvement after 12 weeks of regular use, consult your pharmacist or doctor for alternative treatment options.
