Curanail Loceryl Amorolfine Nail Lacquer

Curanail Loceryl contains amorolfine hydrochloride, an antifungal medicine that treats fungal nail infections. You apply this nail lacquer directly to infected nails once or twice weekly. The treatment penetrates the nail plate to reach the infection site beneath.

This prescription-strength formula helps restore healthy nail appearance over time. The lacquer forms a protective film that allows the active ingredient to work continuously between applications.

How Amorolfine Works Against Nail Fungus

Amorolfine belongs to a group of medicines called antifungals. It works by disrupting the cell walls of fungi, preventing them from growing and reproducing. The medicine targets the specific fungi that commonly cause nail infections, including dermatophytes and yeasts.

The lacquer formulation allows amorolfine to penetrate through the nail plate and remain active for several days after each application. This sustained action helps eliminate the infection gradually as your nail grows out.

Who Should Use This Nail Treatment

This treatment suits adults with confirmed fungal nail infections affecting up to two nails. You should see visible signs of infection such as thickened, discoloured, or brittle nails. The medicine works most effectively when the infection covers less than two-thirds of the nail surface.

  • Adults with fungal infections in fingernails or toenails
  • Infections affecting no more than two nails
  • Mild to moderate infections without nail matrix involvement
  • People seeking a topical alternative to oral antifungal medicines

If you have diabetes or circulation problems, consult your doctor before starting treatment. You should also seek medical advice if the infection affects more than two nails or covers most of the nail surface. For additional foot care support, explore our foot care collection.

Why Choose Lacquer Formulation

The lacquer formulation offers several advantages over other topical treatments. It adheres well to the nail surface and provides sustained release of the active ingredient. This means you only need to apply the treatment once or twice weekly, making it convenient for long-term use.

The amorolfine nail lacquer also creates a barrier that protects the nail during treatment. Unlike creams or solutions, the lacquer stays in place and continues working between applications, improving treatment outcomes.

Storage and Shelf Life Considerations

Store this medicine below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight. Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use to prevent the lacquer from thickening. The medicine remains effective for 36 months from manufacture when stored correctly.

Once opened, use the product within the timeframe specified on the packaging. Replace the cap immediately after each use to maintain the lacquer's consistency and effectiveness.

This product is a medicine. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using if you have an underlying medical condition or are taking other medicines.

Application Instructions for Nail Lacquer

Before your first application, file down the infected nail as much as possible and clean the nail surface with the provided alcohol swab. Apply the lacquer to the entire nail surface, including the underside of the free edge if accessible. Allow the lacquer to dry for approximately three minutes before putting on socks or gloves.

Use the treatment once weekly for fingernails or once to twice weekly for toenails, depending on the severity of infection. Apply the lacquer at the same time each week to maintain consistent treatment levels.

Treatment Duration and Nail Preparation

Continue treatment until the infected nail has grown out completely and been replaced by healthy nail. This typically takes six months for fingernails and nine to twelve months for toenails. Before each weekly application, remove the previous lacquer layer using the provided nail files and clean the nail surface.

You may use nail varnish or artificial nails during treatment, but remove them before each lacquer application. Wait at least ten minutes after applying the antifungal lacquer before applying cosmetic nail products.

Potential Side Effects of Nail Lacquer Treatment

Like all medicines, Curanail Loceryl can have side effects, although not everyone will experience them. Most people tolerate this treatment well when applied correctly to the nail surface.

The most commonly reported side effects involve local skin reactions around the treated nail area. These effects are usually mild and resolve without stopping treatment. If you experience persistent or severe reactions, you may also find suitable alternatives in our athletes foot and fungal infections range .

  • Nail discolouration or changes in nail appearance
  • Skin irritation around the nail
  • Redness or inflammation of surrounding skin
  • Itching or burning sensation at application site
  • Nail brittleness or breakage
  • Contact dermatitis in sensitive individuals
  • Temporary stinging when first applied
  • Skin dryness around treated nails
  • Mild swelling of surrounding tissue
  • Allergic reactions in rare cases

If you experience these or any other side effects, speak to your doctor or pharmacist right away. For more information about reporting side effects please see the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
