Benacort 64 Micrograms Beclometasone Nasal Spray for Adults

What is Benacort Nasal Spray?

Benacort 64 Micrograms Nasal Spray contains beclometasone dipropionate, a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation in your nasal passages. This beclometasone nasal spray is specifically formulated for adults aged 18 years and over to treat allergic rhinitis and other inflammatory nasal conditions. Each bottle provides 120 measured sprays, delivering a precise dose of 64 micrograms per spray.

You can use this nasal corticosteroid spray to manage symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, including hay fever. The active ingredient works by reducing the inflammatory response in your nasal tissues, helping to control the underlying cause of your symptoms rather than just masking them.

How Does This Steroid Nasal Spray Work?

Beclometasone dipropionate belongs to a group of medicines called corticosteroids. When you spray it into your nose, it acts locally on the nasal mucosa to reduce inflammation and swelling. This action helps decrease the production of inflammatory substances that cause your allergy symptoms.

The medication typically begins to show effects within a few days of regular use, though maximum benefit may take up to two weeks. Unlike some other allergy and hay fever treatments, this nasal spray works directly at the site of inflammation in your nasal passages.

Who Can Use Benacort Nasal Spray?

This hay fever nasal spray is suitable for adults aged 18 years and over who suffer from allergic rhinitis or other inflammatory nasal conditions. You should not use this product if you are under 18 years of age, as it is specifically formulated for adult use only.

Before using this medication, you should inform your healthcare provider if you have certain conditions that may affect its suitability for you:

  • Recent nasal surgery or nasal injury
  • Active or recent nasal infections
  • Tuberculosis or other systemic infections
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding

Benefits of Using This Allergic Rhinitis Treatment

Regular use of this nasal spray can help you manage the uncomfortable symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis. The medication provides targeted relief by addressing inflammation directly in your nasal passages, which can help reduce nasal congestion, runny nose, sneezing, and nasal itching.

Unlike oral antihistamines, this topical treatment works locally with minimal systemic absorption, reducing the likelihood of whole-body side effects. The convenient spray format allows for easy application and precise dosing.

Storage and Handling Instructions

Store your nasal spray at room temperature, below 25°C, and keep it away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Do not freeze the medication, and keep the bottle upright when not in use. Always replace the cap after use to prevent contamination and maintain the sterility of the spray mechanism.

Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children. Do not use the spray after the expiry date printed on the packaging, and dispose of any unused medication responsibly through your local pharmacy.

This product is a medicine. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using if you have an underlying medical condition or are taking other medicines.

Recommended Dosage for Adults

The usual dose for adults is two sprays into each nostril once daily, preferably in the morning. This provides a total daily dose of 256 micrograms of beclometasone dipropionate. Your doctor may adjust this dosage based on your individual response to treatment and the severity of your symptoms.

Once your symptoms are well controlled, your healthcare provider may recommend reducing the dose to one spray in each nostril daily for maintenance treatment. Do not exceed the recommended dose unless specifically advised by your doctor or pharmacist.

How to Use Your Nasal Spray Correctly

Before first use, prime the spray by pumping it several times until a fine mist appears. Gently blow your nose to clear your nasal passages before application. Insert the nozzle into one nostril, close the other nostril with your finger, and spray while breathing in gently through your nose.

After spraying, breathe out through your mouth and repeat the process for the other nostril if required. Wipe the nozzle clean with a tissue after use and replace the cap. Avoid blowing your nose immediately after application to allow the medication to remain in contact with your nasal tissues.
