Beclometasone Nasal Spray for Hay Fever Relief

How Does This Steroid Nasal Spray Work?

This beclometasone nasal spray contains beclometasone dipropionate, a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation in your nasal passages. When you spray it into your nose, it works directly at the source of your hay fever symptoms by blocking the inflammatory response that causes sneezing, runny nose, and nasal congestion.

The medication belongs to a group called topical corticosteroids, which are different from the steroids used by athletes. These work by reducing swelling and irritation in the lining of your nose, helping you breathe more easily during hay fever season. You'll typically notice improvement within a few days of starting treatment, though maximum benefit may take up to two weeks.

What Conditions Does This Treatment Help?

This nasal spray treats allergic rhinitis, commonly known as hay fever. It's effective against both seasonal allergies caused by pollen from trees, grass, and weeds, as well as perennial allergies triggered by dust mites, pet dander, or mould spores throughout the year.

The spray helps manage the full range of nasal allergy symptoms including:

  • Persistent sneezing and runny nose
  • Blocked or stuffy nasal passages
  • Itchy nose and nasal irritation
  • Post-nasal drip and throat clearing

Why Choose This 180-Dose Format?

The 180-dose bottle provides excellent value and convenience for long-term hay fever management. With typical usage of two sprays per nostril once daily, this bottle lasts approximately 45 days, making it ideal for extended allergy seasons or year-round treatment of perennial allergic rhinitis.

This larger format reduces the frequency of reordering and ensures you won't run out during peak allergy periods. Many people find our allergy and hay fever treatments work best when used consistently throughout the allergy season rather than stopping and starting treatment.

Important Safety Information Before Use

Before using this nasal spray, inform your pharmacist if you have any nasal infections, recent nasal surgery, or nasal injuries that haven't healed. You should also mention if you're taking other medications, particularly other steroid treatments, as your healthcare provider may need to monitor your overall steroid exposure.

This product is suitable for adults and children over 18 years. If you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant, consult your doctor before use. The medication is generally considered safe during pregnancy when the benefits outweigh the risks, but professional guidance is recommended.

This product is a medicine. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using if you have an underlying medical condition or are taking other medicines.

How to Use Your Nasal Spray Correctly

Before first use, prime the spray by pressing the pump several times until a fine mist appears. Gently blow your nose to clear your nostrils, then shake the bottle well. Tilt your head slightly forward and insert the nozzle into one nostril, pointing it away from the central wall of your nose towards the outer wall.

Press down firmly on the pump while breathing in gently through your nose. Repeat in the other nostril if directed. After use, wipe the nozzle clean and replace the cap. Avoid blowing your nose immediately after application to allow the medication to work effectively.

Recommended Dosage and Timing

The typical adult dose is two sprays in each nostril once daily, preferably in the morning. Some people may need to start with two sprays twice daily until symptoms improve, then reduce to once daily maintenance. Always follow the instructions provided with your specific product or as directed by your pharmacist.

For optimal results, use your nasal spray regularly rather than only when symptoms are severe. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, but don't double up if it's nearly time for your next scheduled dose. Consistent daily use provides the best symptom control throughout allergy season.

Potential Side Effects and What to Watch For

Like all medicines, Beclometasone Hay Fever Relief Nasal Spray can have side effects, although not everyone will experience them. Most people tolerate this medication well, and serious side effects are uncommon when used as directed.

The most frequently reported side effects involve local irritation where the spray is applied. These effects are usually mild and often improve as your nose adjusts to the treatment. If you experience persistent or concerning symptoms, our ear, nose and throat treatments section contains additional products that may help manage related conditions.
