Loratadine Hayfever Tablets and Eye Drops Complete Relief Bundle

This comprehensive bundle combines oral antihistamine tablets with targeted eye drops to address multiple hayfever symptoms simultaneously. You receive 30 loratadine tablets alongside 10ml of Optrex allergy eye drops, providing both systemic and localised treatment for seasonal allergies. The combination approach targets different symptom pathways, offering you relief from sneezing, runny nose, and itchy, watery eyes that commonly occur during pollen season.

Each component works independently whilst complementing the other's effects. The tablets provide whole-body antihistamine coverage, whilst the eye drops deliver direct relief to ocular symptoms that oral medication may not fully address.

How This Dual-Action Approach Works

Loratadine belongs to a group of medicines called non-sedating antihistamines. It works by blocking histamine H1 receptors, preventing the allergic response that causes your hayfever symptoms. Unlike older antihistamines, loratadine is less likely to cause drowsiness, making it suitable for daytime use.

The accompanying eye drops contain sodium cromoglicate, which works differently by stabilising mast cells in your eyes. This prevents the release of inflammatory substances that cause redness, itching, and excessive tearing. When used together, you benefit from both preventative and reactive allergy management across our allergy and hay fever treatment range.

Who Benefits From This Bundle

This combination suits adults and children over 12 years who experience multiple hayfever symptoms affecting both their respiratory system and eyes. You may find this bundle particularly helpful if you've noticed that oral antihistamines alone don't fully control your eye symptoms, or if eye drops alone don't address your sneezing and nasal congestion.

The bundle is ideal for:

  • People with seasonal allergic rhinitis affecting eyes and nose
  • Those who spend significant time outdoors during pollen season
  • Individuals seeking both preventative and symptomatic relief
  • Anyone wanting convenient, coordinated allergy management

Why Choose This Preservative-Free Eye Drop Formula

The Optrex allergy eye drops in this bundle are formulated without preservatives, reducing the risk of additional eye irritation that some preserved formulations can cause. This makes them suitable for frequent use throughout the allergy season. The loratadine hayfever tablets complement this gentle approach by providing sustained relief without the sedating effects associated with older antihistamine formulations.

Preservative-free formulations are particularly beneficial if you wear contact lenses or have sensitive eyes, as they minimise the potential for cumulative irritation from chemical preservatives.

Clinical Suitability and Storage Requirements

Both products in this bundle are suitable for long-term use throughout the allergy season when used as directed. The tablets should be stored in their original packaging below 25°C, whilst the eye drops should be used within 28 days of opening and stored at room temperature. Neither product requires refrigeration, making them convenient for travel or workplace use.

The combination is clinically appropriate for most adults and adolescents over 12 years, though you should consult your pharmacist if you're taking other medications or have underlying health conditions.

This product is a medicine. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using if you have an underlying medical condition or are taking other medicines.

Loratadine Tablet Dosage Instructions

Take one loratadine tablet daily with water, preferably at the same time each day. You can take the tablet with or without food, though taking it on an empty stomach may result in faster absorption. Do not exceed one tablet in 24 hours, and swallow the tablet whole without crushing or chewing it.

For optimal results, begin taking the tablets before your allergy season starts, as regular use helps maintain consistent antihistamine levels in your system. Continue daily use throughout the period when you're exposed to allergens.

Eye Drop Application Method

Instil one to two drops into each affected eye up to four times daily, or as directed by your pharmacist. Tilt your head back slightly and pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket. Squeeze the bottle gently to release the drop, then close your eye for a few moments to allow the medication to spread across the eye surface.

Avoid touching the dropper tip to your eye or any surface to prevent contamination. If you wear contact lenses, remove them before applying the drops and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them. Use the eye drops regularly throughout the day for consistent symptom control.

Understanding Potential Side Effects

Like all medicines, this allergy relief bundle can have side effects, although not everyone will experience them. Most people tolerate both loratadine tablets and sodium cromoglicate eye drops well, with side effects typically being mild when they do occur. If you're exploring eye care options, understanding these potential reactions helps you use the products safely.

The most commonly reported side effects include mild drowsiness from the tablets, despite loratadine being classified as non-sedating, and temporary stinging or burning sensation from the eye drops immediately after application. These effects usually diminish as your body adjusts to the medication.

Possible side effects may include:

  • Headache or dizziness
  • Dry mouth or throat
  • Fatigue or mild drowsiness
  • Temporary eye stinging or burning
  • Blurred vision immediately after eye drop application
  • Nausea or stomach discomfort
  • Skin rash or itching
  • Increased eye watering initially
  • Mild eye irritation or redness
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Nervousness or restlessness
  • Taste changes

If you experience these or any other side effects, speak to your doctor or pharmacist right away. For more information about reporting side effects please see the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
