Loratadine Hayfever Relief and Eye Drops Bundle

This bundle combines oral antihistamine tablets with targeted eye drops to address multiple hayfever symptoms simultaneously. You receive both systemic relief from loratadine tablets and direct eye symptom management from preservative-free drops in one convenient package.

The combination approach targets different aspects of allergic reactions - loratadine works throughout your body to reduce histamine responses, whilst the eye drops provide localised relief where pollen and allergens commonly cause irritation. This dual treatment method addresses the comprehensive nature of seasonal allergies.

How This Dual Treatment Approach Works

Loratadine belongs to a group of medicines called non-sedating antihistamines. It blocks histamine H1 receptors, preventing the cascade of allergic reactions that cause sneezing, runny nose, and itchy symptoms. The medicine works systemically, meaning it circulates through your bloodstream to provide whole-body relief.

The accompanying eye drops contain sodium cromoglicate, which works differently by stabilising mast cells in your eyes. This prevents the release of inflammatory substances that cause redness, watering, and itching. Together, these treatments provide comprehensive coverage for both systemic and localised allergy symptoms, making this bundle particularly suitable for those exploring our allergy and hay fever treatment options.

Who Benefits from Combined Allergy Treatment

This bundle suits adults and children over 2 years who experience multiple hayfever symptoms affecting both their general wellbeing and eye comfort. You may find this combination particularly helpful if you've noticed that single treatments don't address all your allergy symptoms effectively.

The loratadine hayfever relief component is especially suitable for people who need long-lasting symptom control without drowsiness, whilst the eye drops complement this by targeting specific ocular symptoms that oral medications may not fully address:

  • Persistent sneezing combined with itchy, watery eyes
  • Seasonal allergies affecting both nasal passages and eye comfort
  • Those who work outdoors or spend significant time in high-pollen environments
  • People seeking comprehensive symptom management during peak allergy seasons

Why Preservative-Free Eye Treatment Matters

The eye drops in this bundle are formulated without preservatives, reducing the risk of additional irritation to already sensitive eyes. Preservatives in eye medications can sometimes cause their own allergic reactions or worsen existing symptoms, particularly with frequent use during allergy seasons.

This preservative-free formulation means you can use the drops as needed throughout the day without concern about cumulative irritation. The single-dose format also ensures sterility whilst eliminating preservative-related side effects that some people experience with multi-dose eye preparations.

Clinical Suitability and Storage Requirements

Both components of this bundle are clinically proven treatments that can be used together safely. The loratadine tablets should be stored in their original packaging below 30°C, whilst the eye drops should be kept at room temperature and used within the timeframe specified on individual doses.

This combination is suitable for long-term use during allergy seasons, though you should consult your pharmacist if symptoms persist beyond the expected duration of your typical allergic reactions. The non-sedating nature of loratadine makes this bundle appropriate for people who need to maintain normal daily activities whilst managing their symptoms.

This product is a medicine. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using if you have an underlying medical condition or are taking other medicines.

Loratadine Tablet Dosage Instructions

Take one loratadine tablet daily with water, preferably at the same time each day. You can take the tablet with or without food, though taking it on an empty stomach may result in faster absorption. Do not exceed one tablet in 24 hours unless specifically advised by your doctor or pharmacist.

For children aged 2-12 years weighing more than 30kg, the same adult dose applies. Children weighing less than 30kg should receive half a tablet daily. Always check the packaging for specific age and weight recommendations before administering to children.

Eye Drop Application Method

Apply one to two drops into each affected eye up to four times daily, or as directed by your healthcare provider. Tilt your head back slightly and pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket. Squeeze the single-dose container gently to release the drop, avoiding contact between the container tip and your eye.

After application, close your eyes gently for a few moments to allow the medication to spread across the eye surface. If you wear contact lenses, remove them before application and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting. Discard each single-dose container after use, even if some solution remains.

Understanding Potential Side Effects

Like all medicines, this loratadine and eye drop bundle can have side effects, although not everyone will experience them. Most people tolerate both components well, with side effects typically being mild and temporary when they do occur.

The most commonly reported side effects include mild drowsiness despite loratadine's non-sedating classification, temporary stinging upon eye drop application, and occasional headaches. These effects usually diminish as your body adjusts to the treatment, and many people find the benefits outweigh any minor discomfort. For additional support with allergy management, you might also explore our eye care collection for complementary treatments.

Known side effects may include:

  • Headache or mild dizziness
  • Dry mouth or throat
  • Fatigue or slight drowsiness
  • Temporary eye stinging or burning after drop application
  • Blurred vision immediately after using eye drops
  • Nausea or stomach discomfort
  • Skin rash or itching
  • Increased eye watering initially
  • Mild eye irritation or redness
  • Difficulty sleeping in some individuals
  • Nervousness or restlessness
  • Temporary taste changes

If you experience these or any other side effects, speak to your doctor or pharmacist right away. For more information about reporting side effects please see the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
