Voltarol Joint Pain Relief Gel for Targeted Treatment

You can rely on this topical gel to provide targeted relief from joint pain and inflammation. The gel contains diclofenac diethylamine at 2.32% concentration, which belongs to a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). When you apply it directly to the affected area, the active ingredient penetrates through your skin to reach the underlying tissues where pain and inflammation occur.

This 50g tube provides sufficient treatment for multiple applications across various joints including knees, elbows, wrists, and ankles. You can use it as part of your daily pain management routine or when acute joint discomfort arises from everyday activities or minor injuries.

How Diclofenac Gel Works on Joint Pain

The active ingredient works by blocking the production of prostaglandins, which are chemicals your body produces in response to injury or irritation. These prostaglandins cause pain, swelling, and inflammation in your joints. By reducing their production locally at the application site, the gel helps decrease these uncomfortable symptoms.

Unlike oral pain relief medications that circulate throughout your entire body, this topical application allows you to target specific areas of discomfort. This localised approach means the medicine works directly where you need it most, whilst minimising exposure to other parts of your body.

Suitable for Various Joint Pain Conditions

This gel is appropriate for you if you experience joint pain from various causes including osteoarthritis, minor sports injuries, or general wear and tear. Many people find it particularly helpful for managing chronic joint conditions that cause ongoing discomfort. You can also explore other options in our pain relief collection for comprehensive symptom management.

The gel is suitable for adults and children over 14 years of age. Consider this treatment if you experience:

  • Joint stiffness and pain in the morning
  • Discomfort that worsens with movement or activity
  • Localised swelling around affected joints
  • Pain that interferes with your daily activities

Non-Greasy Formula for Daily Use

The gel formulation absorbs readily into your skin without leaving a greasy residue, making it practical for use throughout the day. You can apply it under clothing without concern about staining or transfer. The voltarol joint pain relief gel has a mild, non-offensive odour that won't interfere with your daily routine or social interactions.

This topical approach offers you the flexibility to treat multiple joints simultaneously or focus on specific problem areas as needed. The gel remains effective whether you're treating a single joint or multiple areas of discomfort.

Storage and Handling Requirements

You should store this medicine below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children. Do not use the gel after the expiry date printed on the packaging. Once opened, use the contents within the timeframe specified on the tube to ensure optimal effectiveness.

Always replace the cap securely after use to prevent the gel from drying out. If you notice any changes in colour, consistency, or smell, discontinue use and consult your pharmacist.

This product is a medicine. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using if you have an underlying medical condition or are taking other medicines.

Application Instructions for Joint Pain Relief

You should apply a thin layer of gel to the affected joint area and gently massage it into your skin until fully absorbed. Use only the amount needed to cover the painful area - typically a strip of gel measuring 2-4cm in length is sufficient for most joints. Wash your hands thoroughly after application unless you are treating your hands specifically.

Apply the gel up to three times daily, with at least four hours between applications. Do not exceed this frequency as it will not improve the effectiveness and may increase the risk of side effects. You can use the gel for up to seven days for acute conditions, or longer for chronic conditions under medical supervision.

Important Usage Guidelines

You must not apply the gel to broken, damaged, or infected skin, or to areas with cuts, grazes, or eczema. Avoid contact with your eyes, mouth, and mucous membranes. If accidental contact occurs, rinse immediately with clean water. Do not cover the treated area with airtight bandages or dressings unless advised by your healthcare provider.

You should not use this gel if you are allergic to diclofenac, aspirin, or other NSAIDs, or if you have experienced asthma, skin reactions, or nasal inflammation after taking these types of medicines. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before use.
