Nurofen Period Pain Relief – 16 Gel Capsules

You can manage menstrual discomfort effectively with these specially formulated gel capsules. Each capsule contains ibuprofen, which belongs to a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). This medicine works by reducing inflammation and blocking pain signals, making it particularly suitable for addressing the cramping and discomfort associated with your monthly cycle.

The gel capsule format allows for faster absorption compared to standard tablets, helping you find relief when you need it most. You can take these capsules with or without food, though taking them with food may help reduce the risk of stomach upset.

How These Capsules Work for Menstrual Discomfort

The active ingredient works by inhibiting enzymes called cyclooxygenases, which are responsible for producing prostaglandins. During menstruation, your body produces higher levels of prostaglandins, which cause the uterine muscles to contract and can lead to pain and cramping. By reducing prostaglandin production, these capsules help decrease both the intensity of uterine contractions and the associated pain.

You should start to feel relief within 30 to 60 minutes of taking a capsule. The anti-inflammatory action also helps reduce any swelling or inflammation that may contribute to your discomfort during menstruation.

Who Can Use These Menstrual Pain Tablets

These capsules are suitable for women aged 12 years and over who experience period pain relief needs. You can use them if you have mild to moderate menstrual cramps, lower back pain during menstruation, or general discomfort associated with your monthly cycle. Many women find our pain relief options helpful for managing various types of discomfort.

However, you should not use these capsules if you:

  • Are allergic to ibuprofen or any other NSAIDs
  • Have a history of stomach ulcers or bleeding
  • Have severe heart, liver, or kidney problems
  • Are in the last three months of pregnancy

Why Choose Gel Capsules for Period Pain

The gel capsule formulation offers several advantages over traditional tablets. The liquid-filled capsules dissolve more quickly in your stomach, allowing the active ingredient to be absorbed faster into your bloodstream. This means you may experience relief sooner than with standard tablet formulations.

The smooth gel coating also makes these capsules easier to swallow, which can be particularly helpful when you're feeling unwell during menstruation. The capsules are designed to break down efficiently, ensuring consistent delivery of the active ingredient.

Storage and Shelf Life Information

You should store these capsules in a cool, dry place below 25°C, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep them in their original packaging until you're ready to use them, and always check the expiry date before taking any capsules. Do not use the medicine after the expiry date shown on the packaging.

Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children. If you have any unused capsules after your treatment is complete, you can return them to your local pharmacy for safe disposal.

This product is a medicine. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using if you have an underlying medical condition or are taking other medicines.

Recommended Dosage for Adults and Adolescents

You should take one or two capsules with water, up to three times daily as needed. Do not exceed six capsules in any 24-hour period. Leave at least four hours between doses to ensure safe and effective use. If you're aged 12 to 17 years, you should not take more than four capsules in 24 hours.

You can take these capsules with or without food, though taking them with food or milk may help reduce the risk of stomach irritation. Swallow the capsules whole with plenty of water - do not chew, break, or open them as this may affect how the medicine works.

When and How to Take Your Capsules

You can start taking these capsules as soon as you feel menstrual pain beginning, or you may choose to take them regularly during the first few days of your period when discomfort is typically at its worst. For optimal results, try to take your doses at evenly spaced intervals throughout the day.

If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it's nearly time for your next dose. In this case, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Never take a double dose to make up for a forgotten capsule. Do not use this medicine for more than three days without consulting your doctor or pharmacist.
