Nurofen For Children Orange - Effective Children's Ibuprofen for Fever and Pain Relief

Nurofen For Children Orange provides targeted relief from fever and pain in children aged 3 months to 12 years. This orange-flavoured oral suspension contains ibuprofen, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that reduces inflammation, fever, and pain. The liquid formulation makes it easier for children to take compared to tablets or capsules.

Each 5ml dose delivers a measured amount of ibuprofen specifically formulated for children's needs. The pleasant orange flavour helps improve compliance, making medicine time less stressful for both you and your child. This children's ibuprofen suspension can be used to treat various conditions including teething pain, headaches, earache, sore throats, and fever associated with colds and flu.

How Ibuprofen Works to Reduce Fever and Pain

Ibuprofen works by blocking the production of prostaglandins, chemicals in the body that cause inflammation, pain, and fever. When your child has an infection or injury, prostaglandins are released at the site, causing swelling, pain, and increased body temperature. By inhibiting these chemicals, ibuprofen effectively reduces these uncomfortable symptoms.

The anti-inflammatory properties of ibuprofen make it particularly effective for conditions involving swelling and inflammation. Unlike paracetamol, which primarily targets pain and fever, ibuprofen also addresses the underlying inflammation that often contributes to your child's discomfort. This makes it especially useful for conditions like teething, where gum inflammation is a significant factor.

Suitable for Children from 3 Months to 12 Years

This oral suspension is specifically designed for children and infants from 3 months old, provided they weigh at least 5kg. The liquid formulation allows for accurate dosing based on your child's age and weight, ensuring they receive the appropriate amount of medicine. For comprehensive children's healthcare needs, you can explore our baby and toddler collection for additional products.

Nurofen For Children Orange is particularly suitable for:

  • Children who have difficulty swallowing tablets or capsules
  • Infants experiencing teething discomfort
  • Children with fever following vaccinations
  • Those requiring anti-inflammatory treatment for minor injuries or conditions

Sugar-Free Formula with Pleasant Orange Flavour

The sugar-free formulation helps protect your child's developing teeth whilst still providing a pleasant taste experience. The orange flavour is carefully balanced to mask the medicinal taste without being overly sweet, encouraging children to take their medicine without resistance.

This thoughtful formulation reduces the risk of dental problems associated with regular sugar-containing medicines, making it a more suitable choice for ongoing treatment when needed. The absence of sugar also makes it appropriate for children with diabetes or those following sugar-restricted diets.

Convenient Measuring and Storage Requirements

The 100ml bottle comes with a measuring syringe or spoon to ensure accurate dosing. Always use the measuring device provided rather than household spoons, which can vary significantly in size and lead to incorrect dosing. Store the medicine in a cool, dry place below 25°C and keep it out of reach and sight of children.

Once opened, the suspension remains effective until the expiry date printed on the packaging, provided it is stored correctly. Always check the expiry date before use and never give expired medicine to your child. Shake the bottle well before each use to ensure the medicine is properly mixed.

This product is a medicine. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using if you have an underlying medical condition or are taking other medicines.

Dosage Instructions for Children's Ibuprofen Suspension

Always follow the dosage instructions on the packaging or as directed by your healthcare professional. The dose depends on your child's age and weight, and should not exceed the recommended amount. Use only the measuring device provided with the medicine to ensure accurate dosing.

Shake the bottle well before each use to ensure the medicine is properly mixed. The suspension can be given directly into your child's mouth using the syringe, or mixed with a small amount of milk or fruit juice if preferred. Do not exceed the stated dose or give more frequently than recommended on the packaging.

When and How to Administer the Medicine

Give the medicine with or after food to reduce the risk of stomach upset. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking the dose, you may give the same dose again. However, if vomiting continues, seek medical advice before giving further doses.

Do not give this medicine for more than 3 days for fever or 3 days for pain relief unless advised by a doctor or pharmacist. If symptoms persist or worsen, consult your healthcare professional. Always leave at least 6-8 hours between doses and do not give more than the recommended number of doses in 24 hours.
