Nurofen for Children's Ibuprofen Liquid Strawberry Flavour 200ml

This children's ibuprofen liquid provides effective relief from pain and fever in children aged 3 months to 12 years. The strawberry-flavoured formulation makes it easier for parents to administer medication to young children who may be reluctant to take medicine.

Each 5ml dose contains 100mg of ibuprofen, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that reduces inflammation, pain, and fever. The liquid format allows for accurate dosing based on your child's age and weight, with a measuring syringe included for precise administration.

How Ibuprofen Works for Children's Symptoms

Ibuprofen works by blocking the production of prostaglandins, chemicals in the body that cause inflammation, pain, and fever. This action helps reduce your child's temperature during feverish illnesses and provides relief from various types of pain.

The liquid formulation is absorbed quickly into your child's system, typically beginning to work within 30 minutes of administration. Effects can last up to 8 hours, though this varies depending on your child's individual response and the severity of their symptoms.

Suitable for Various Childhood Conditions

This nurofen children liquid is appropriate for treating several common childhood ailments. It can be used to manage fever associated with infections and provide relief from various types of discomfort that children commonly experience.

The medication is suitable for children experiencing:

  • Fever reduction during cold and flu symptoms
  • Headaches and general aches
  • Teething pain in infants over 3 months
  • Post-vaccination fever and discomfort

For comprehensive treatment of cold and flu symptoms, you may also consider browsing our cold and flu collection for additional supportive remedies.

Sugar-Free Formulation Benefits

This ibuprofen strawberry flavour formulation is sugar-free, making it suitable for children with dietary restrictions or concerns about dental health. The artificial strawberry flavouring helps mask the natural taste of ibuprofen without adding unnecessary sugars to your child's diet.

The sugar-free formulation also makes it appropriate for diabetic children, though you should always consult your healthcare provider before administering any medication to children with underlying health conditions.

Storage and Shelf Life Considerations

Store this children's pain relief liquid in a cool, dry place below 25°C and keep it out of reach of children when not in use. Do not refrigerate the medication as this may affect its consistency and effectiveness.

Once opened, the bottle should be used within 6 months and before the expiry date printed on the packaging. Always check the expiry date before administration and dispose of any expired medication safely through your local pharmacy.

This product is a medicine. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using if you have an underlying medical condition or are taking other medicines.

Dosage Instructions for Children

Always use the measuring syringe provided to ensure accurate dosing. The dose depends on your child's age and weight, and you should not exceed the recommended amount or frequency. Give doses at least 6 hours apart and do not give more than 3 doses in 24 hours.

For children aged 3-6 months weighing over 5kg, the typical dose is 2.5ml. Children aged 6 months to 1 year usually require 2.5ml, whilst those aged 1-4 years typically need 5ml per dose. Children aged 4-7 years generally require 7.5ml, and those aged 7-12 years usually need 10ml per dose.

Administration Guidelines

Shake the bottle well before each use to ensure the medication is properly mixed. Draw up the correct amount using the measuring syringe and administer directly into your child's mouth, aiming towards the inside of the cheek rather than the back of the throat.

You can give this medication with or without food, though giving it with food may help reduce the risk of stomach upset in sensitive children. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking a dose, you may give the same dose again. Do not use for more than 3 days without consulting a healthcare professional.

Potential Side Effects and Safety Information
