Nurofen for Children 3 Months to 9 Years - Strawberry Flavoured Children's Ibuprofen

This strawberry-flavoured oral suspension provides effective pain and fever relief for children aged 3 months to 9 years. The liquid formulation makes it easier to administer to young children who cannot swallow tablets or capsules.

Each 5ml contains 100mg of ibuprofen, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicine that reduces pain, fever and inflammation. The pleasant strawberry taste helps ensure your child takes their medicine without difficulty.

How This Medicine Works in Your Child's Body

The active ingredient works by blocking the production of prostaglandins, natural substances in the body that cause pain, fever and inflammation. This action helps reduce your child's discomfort and brings down elevated body temperature.

You should see the effects within 30 minutes to 1 hour of giving the dose. The medicine continues working for up to 8 hours, providing sustained relief from symptoms. This allows your child to rest more comfortably and helps them recover from their illness.

Suitable for Young Children with Various Conditions

This medicine is appropriate for treating several common childhood ailments. You can use it when your child experiences fever, headaches, earache, sore throat, or general aches and pains associated with colds and flu.

The formulation is particularly useful for:

  • Teething pain in babies from 3 months old
  • Post-vaccination fever and discomfort
  • Minor injuries such as bumps and bruises
  • Cold and flu symptoms including body aches

If your child needs ongoing children's ibuprofen treatment, you may also find our comprehensive pain relief collection helpful for managing their symptoms effectively.

Sugar-Free Formula for Better Oral Health

This suspension contains no sugar, which helps protect your child's developing teeth from decay. The sugar-free formulation means you can give the medicine without worrying about contributing to dental problems, even with repeated use during illness.

The strawberry flavouring comes from artificial sweeteners that provide the pleasant taste children prefer whilst maintaining the medicine's effectiveness. This makes medication time less stressful for both you and your child.

Convenient Measuring and Storage Requirements

The 100ml bottle comes with a measuring spoon to ensure you give the correct dose every time. Always use the spoon provided rather than household teaspoons, as these can vary in size and lead to incorrect dosing.

Store the medicine in a cool, dry place below 25°C and keep it out of reach and sight of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging, and discard any remaining medicine 6 months after first opening the bottle.

This product is a medicine. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using if you have an underlying medical condition or are taking other medicines.

Correct Dosage Based on Your Child's Age

Always follow the dosage instructions on the packaging and never exceed the recommended amount. For children aged 3-6 months, give 2.5ml up to three times daily. Children aged 6 months to 1 year can have 2.5ml up to three or four times daily. For children aged 1-4 years, give 5ml up to three times daily, and children aged 4-9 years can have 7.5ml up to three times daily.

Leave at least 6 hours between doses and do not give more than the stated dose in 24 hours. If your child's symptoms persist for more than 3 days, or if they worsen, consult your doctor or pharmacist for further advice.

How to Give This Medicine Safely

Shake the bottle well before each use to ensure the medicine is properly mixed. Use only the measuring spoon provided to measure the correct dose. You can give the medicine with or without food, though giving it with food may help reduce the chance of stomach upset.

If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking the dose, you may give the same dose again. However, if vomiting occurs after 30 minutes, wait until the next scheduled dose time. Never give double doses to make up for a missed dose.
