Lamisil AT 1% Athlete's Foot Spray for Fungal Infections

Lamisil AT 1% Spray contains terbinafine hydrochloride, an antifungal medicine that treats fungal skin infections including athlete's foot, jock itch, and ringworm. The spray format allows you to apply the treatment without touching the affected area, reducing the risk of spreading the infection to other parts of your body or contaminating your hands.

This topical antifungal treatment works by stopping the growth of fungi that cause skin infections. The 15ml bottle provides sufficient treatment for most fungal infections when used as directed. You can use this medicine on various parts of your body where fungal infections commonly occur.

How Terbinafine Spray Works Against Fungal Infections

Terbinafine hydrochloride belongs to a group of antifungal medicines called allylamines. It works by interfering with the production of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes. Without ergosterol, the fungal cells cannot maintain their structure and die.

The spray formulation allows the active ingredient to penetrate the affected skin area effectively. This targeted approach helps eliminate the fungus whilst minimising systemic absorption, making it suitable for localised skin infections.

Who Can Use This Antifungal Foot Spray

This medicine is suitable for adults and children over 16 years old who have fungal skin infections. You should not use this product if you are allergic to terbinafine or any of the other ingredients. The spray is particularly useful for treating infections in areas that are difficult to reach or where you prefer not to apply cream directly.

Common conditions this treatment addresses include:

  • Athlete's foot (tinea pedis) between toes and on foot soles
  • Jock itch (tinea cruris) in the groin area
  • Ringworm (tinea corporis) on body skin
  • Fungal infections in skin folds

Why Choose Spray Format for Fungal Treatment

The spray application offers several practical benefits over cream formulations. You can apply the treatment without direct contact with the infected area, which helps prevent cross-contamination and reduces the risk of spreading the infection. This is particularly important when treating athlete's foot spray infections, as touching the affected area can transfer fungi to your hands.

The spray also provides even coverage across irregular skin surfaces and reaches areas that might be difficult to treat with creams or ointments. For comprehensive foot care solutions, you can explore our foot care collection which includes various treatments for common foot conditions.

Storage and Clinical Suitability

Store this medicine below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children. Do not puncture or burn the container, even when empty. The spray should remain effective until the expiry date printed on the packaging when stored correctly.

This treatment is clinically proven to be effective against the most common fungi that cause skin infections. You should see improvement in your symptoms within a few days of starting treatment, though you must complete the full course as directed to prevent the infection from returning.

This product is a medicine. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using if you have an underlying medical condition or are taking other medicines.

How to Apply Lamisil AT 1% Spray

Clean and dry the affected area thoroughly before application. Hold the spray container upright and spray a thin, even layer over the infected skin and surrounding area from a distance of approximately 6 inches. Allow the spray to dry completely before putting on socks, shoes, or clothing.

Treatment Duration and Frequency

Apply the spray once daily, preferably at the same time each day for consistency. For athlete's foot, continue treatment for one week after all symptoms have cleared to prevent recurrence. For other fungal infections, follow the treatment duration recommended by your pharmacist or as stated in the patient information leaflet. Do not exceed the recommended dose or duration without consulting a healthcare professional.

Wash your hands thoroughly after each application unless you are treating a hand infection. If you forget a dose, apply it as soon as you remember, then continue with your regular schedule. Do not apply extra spray to make up for a missed dose.
