Curanail 5% Fungal Nail Lacquer for Nail Fungus Treatment

You can treat fungal nail infections effectively with this medicated nail lacquer containing 5% amorolfine hydrochloride. This topical antifungal treatment penetrates through your nail plate to reach the infection site beneath, targeting the fungi that cause nail discolouration, thickening, and brittleness.

The lacquer forms a protective film over your affected nail, creating a barrier that prevents moisture loss whilst delivering the active ingredient directly to the infected area. This targeted approach helps restore your nail's natural appearance and health over time with consistent application.

How This Antifungal Lacquer Works

The active ingredient amorolfine hydrochloride belongs to a group of medicines called antifungals. It works by disrupting the cell membrane of fungi, preventing them from growing and reproducing in your nail tissue.

When you apply the lacquer to your affected nail, it dries to form a water-resistant film that remains active for several days. This sustained release ensures continuous antifungal action between applications, helping to eliminate the infection gradually whilst protecting your nail from reinfection.

Who Can Use This Nail Fungus Treatment

This treatment is suitable for adults and children over 12 years who have mild to moderate fungal nail infections affecting up to two nails. You should see your doctor if you have diabetes, circulation problems, or a weakened immune system before starting treatment.

The lacquer is particularly effective for infections that affect:

  • The outer edges or tip of your nail
  • Less than half of your nail surface
  • Nails that show early signs of fungal infection
  • Fingernails or toenails with mild discolouration

If you're managing other fungal nail lacquer treatments or have concerns about foot health, you may find our comprehensive Athletes Foot and Fungal Infections collection helpful for additional care options.

Why Choose This Medicated Nail Lacquer

This treatment offers a convenient once-weekly application schedule, making it easier to maintain your treatment routine compared to daily applications. The lacquer's formulation allows it to penetrate your nail effectively whilst remaining flexible as your nail grows.

The treatment typically shows visible improvement within 6 months for fingernails and up to 12 months for toenails, depending on the severity of your infection and how quickly your nails grow. Regular use as directed helps prevent the spread of infection to other nails.

Clinical Suitability and Storage Requirements

You should store this medicine below 25°C in its original container, keeping it away from heat sources and direct sunlight. The lacquer remains effective for up to 3 years from the date of manufacture when stored correctly.

Before starting treatment, ensure your nail is clean and dry, and remove any existing nail polish or artificial nails. You can continue to use nail polish over the lacquer once it has dried completely, though this may reduce its effectiveness.

This product is a medicine. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using if you have an underlying medical condition or are taking other medicines.

How to Apply Your Medicated Nail Lacquer

You should apply the lacquer once weekly, preferably on the same day each week to maintain consistency. Before application, clean your affected nail thoroughly and file away any loose or damaged nail material using the disposable nail files provided. Remove any existing nail polish completely and ensure your nail is completely dry before applying the treatment.

Apply a thin, even layer of lacquer to the entire surface of your affected nail, including the underside of the free edge if accessible. Allow the lacquer to dry for approximately 3 minutes before putting on socks or shoes. You can apply nail polish over the dried lacquer if desired, though this may reduce the treatment's effectiveness.

Treatment Duration and Application Schedule

You should continue treatment until your nail has completely regrown and appears healthy, which typically takes 6 months for fingernails and up to 12 months for toenails. Do not stop treatment early even if your nail appears to be improving, as this may allow the infection to return. If you see no improvement after 3 months of regular use, consult your doctor or pharmacist for advice.

Clean the nail file with the provided cleaning pad after each use, or use a fresh file for each application to prevent reinfection. Replace the brush applicator cap tightly after each use to prevent the lacquer from drying out.
