Clotrimazole Cream 1% 50g for Fungal Infections

You can use this antifungal cream to treat various fungal skin infections including athlete's foot, ringworm, and fungal nappy rash. The active ingredient works by stopping the growth of fungi that cause these uncomfortable conditions. This topical treatment is suitable for adults and children over 2 years of age when used as directed.

The cream comes in a convenient 50g tube that provides sufficient treatment for most fungal infections. You should see improvement in your symptoms within a few days of starting treatment, though you must continue using the cream for the full recommended duration to prevent the infection returning.

How This Antifungal Treatment Works

The medication works by interfering with the cell walls of fungi, causing them to become leaky and eventually die. This action helps clear the infection and reduces symptoms such as itching, burning, and scaling of the affected skin. The cream penetrates the skin to reach the site of infection effectively.

You will typically notice a reduction in itching and irritation within the first few days of treatment. However, it's important to continue applying the cream for at least two weeks after symptoms disappear to ensure the infection is completely cleared and doesn't return.

Who Can Benefit from This Treatment

This treatment is suitable for people experiencing various types of fungal skin infections. It's particularly effective for common conditions that affect different areas of the body. You can find this product alongside other clotrimazole cream 1% treatments in our Athletes Foot and Fungal Infections collection.

The cream is appropriate for treating:

  • Athlete's foot between toes and on soles
  • Ringworm on body and scalp areas
  • Fungal nappy rash in infants over 2 years
  • Skin fold infections in warm, moist areas

Why Choose This Established Antifungal Formula

This medication has been used safely and effectively for decades to treat fungal skin infections. The 1% concentration provides the right strength to clear infections while being gentle enough for regular use on sensitive skin areas. The cream base helps moisturise the skin while delivering the active ingredient.

The formulation is designed to be easily absorbed without leaving a greasy residue, making it comfortable to use under clothing or footwear. This makes it particularly suitable for treating athlete's foot where you need to wear shoes throughout the day.

Storage and Shelf Life Information

You should store this cream at room temperature below 25°C and keep it away from direct sunlight and moisture. Always replace the cap tightly after use to prevent contamination. The cream has a shelf life of 3 years from the date of manufacture when stored correctly.

Once opened, you should use the cream within 6 months for optimal effectiveness. Always check the expiry date before use and dispose of any expired medication safely through your local pharmacy's disposal service.

This product is a medicine. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using if you have an underlying medical condition or are taking other medicines.

How to Apply This Antifungal Cream

You should clean and dry the affected area thoroughly before applying the cream. Apply a thin layer to the infected skin and surrounding area, extending about 2cm beyond the visible infection. Gently rub the cream in until it's absorbed. Wash your hands thoroughly after application unless you're treating your hands.

Treatment Duration and Frequency

You should apply the cream 2-3 times daily, continuing treatment for at least 2 weeks after symptoms have cleared. For athlete's foot, treatment typically continues for 4 weeks, while other skin infections usually require 2-4 weeks of treatment. If your symptoms don't improve after 4 weeks of treatment, consult your pharmacist or doctor for further advice.

The cream helps with a fungal sweat rash I have had for a number of months. This is due I assume to the physical exercise I undertake 3 to. 4 times a week. The main exercise is cycling.
