Children's Paracetamol Suspension Sugar Free for Pain and Fever Relief

This children's paracetamol suspension provides effective relief from pain and fever in infants and children from 3 months of age. The sugar-free formulation makes it suitable for regular use without concerns about dental health, whilst the liquid format ensures easy administration for young patients who cannot swallow tablets.

Each 5ml dose contains 120mg of paracetamol, the same trusted active ingredient found in adult formulations but specifically measured for children's needs. The suspension comes in a 200ml bottle with flavours that vary to make medicine time more acceptable for young patients.

How Paracetamol Works to Reduce Pain and Temperature

Paracetamol works by blocking the production of prostaglandins in the brain, which are chemicals that cause pain and fever. Unlike some other pain relievers, paracetamol does not reduce inflammation but focuses specifically on pain relief and temperature reduction.

The liquid formulation allows for rapid absorption through the digestive system, typically beginning to work within 30 minutes of administration. This makes it particularly effective for managing sudden onset fever or discomfort in children.

Suitable for Infants and Children from 3 Months

This medicine is specifically designed for children and infants from 3 months of age up to 12 years. It provides relief for various childhood ailments and can be used alongside other treatments for conditions like cold and flu symptoms.

The suspension is particularly suitable for:

  • Children who cannot swallow tablets or capsules
  • Infants experiencing teething discomfort
  • Children with fever following vaccinations
  • Young patients requiring regular pain management

Why Choose Sugar-Free Formulation

The sugar-free formulation eliminates concerns about tooth decay that can arise from regular use of sweetened medicines. This is particularly important for children who may require frequent doses during illness or for chronic conditions.

Despite being sugar-free, the suspension maintains palatability through carefully selected flavouring agents that make administration easier for parents and more acceptable for children. The absence of sugar also makes it suitable for children with diabetes or those following sugar-restricted diets.

Clinical Suitability and Storage Requirements

This medicine should be stored below 25°C and kept out of reach of children when not in use. Once opened, the suspension should be used within the timeframe specified on the packaging to ensure effectiveness and safety.

The formulation is designed to remain stable throughout its shelf life when stored correctly, maintaining consistent dosing accuracy. Always check the expiry date before use and dispose of any expired medicine safely through your local pharmacy.

This product is a medicine. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using if you have an underlying medical condition or are taking other medicines.

Correct Dosage Based on Your Child's Age

Always follow the dosage instructions on the packaging or as advised by your healthcare professional. For children aged 3-6 months, the typical dose is 2.5ml given up to four times daily. Children aged 6 months to 2 years usually require 2.5-5ml up to four times daily, whilst those aged 2-4 years typically need 5ml up to four times daily.

Children aged 4-6 years generally require 7.5ml up to four times daily, and those aged 6-8 years need 10ml up to four times daily. For children aged 8-10 years, the usual dose is 12.5ml up to four times daily, whilst those aged 10-12 years typically require 15ml up to four times daily. Never exceed the stated dose and ensure at least 4 hours between doses.

How to Administer the Suspension Safely

Shake the bottle well before each use to ensure the medicine is properly mixed. Use the measuring spoon or syringe provided to ensure accurate dosing. You can give the medicine directly or mix it with a small amount of water or juice if your child prefers.

If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking the dose, you may give the same dose again. However, if vomiting occurs after 30 minutes, wait until the next scheduled dose time. Do not give more than four doses in any 24-hour period and consult your pharmacist or doctor if symptoms persist beyond three days.
