Calpol SixPlus Fastmelts for Children's Pain and Fever Relief

You can provide your child with effective pain and fever relief using these convenient dissolving tablets. Each tablet contains paracetamol and dissolves quickly on the tongue without requiring water, making them ideal for children who struggle with traditional tablets or liquid medicines.

These tablets are specifically formulated for children aged 6 years and over. The fast-dissolving format means you can administer the medicine easily, even when your child is feeling unwell or reluctant to take medication.

How Paracetamol Works to Reduce Pain and Fever

Paracetamol works by blocking the production of prostaglandins in your child's brain and spinal cord. These chemical messengers are responsible for transmitting pain signals and regulating body temperature. By reducing prostaglandin production, the medicine helps lower fever and provides relief from mild to moderate pain.

The active ingredient is absorbed into your child's bloodstream and begins working within 30 minutes to an hour. The effects typically last for 4 to 6 hours, providing sustained relief from symptoms associated with common childhood illnesses.

Suitable for Various Childhood Conditions

You can use these tablets to treat several common childhood ailments that cause pain or fever. They are particularly useful when your child has symptoms that make swallowing difficult or when you need a portable option for travel or school.

The calpol fastmelts are suitable for treating:

  • Headaches and general aches and pains
  • Fever associated with colds and flu
  • Toothache and teething discomfort in older children
  • Post-vaccination fever and soreness

These tablets work well alongside other treatments in our cold and flu collection to provide comprehensive symptom management for your child.

Why Choose Fast-Dissolving Tablets

The dissolving format offers several practical advantages over traditional liquid medicines. You don't need to measure doses or worry about spilling, and there's no need to carry water or a spoon. This makes them particularly convenient for use outside the home or when travelling.

The tablets have a pleasant taste that most children find acceptable, reducing the struggle often associated with giving medicine to unwell children. The format also eliminates concerns about accurate dosing that can occur with liquid formulations.

Storage and Shelf Life Considerations

You should store these tablets in their original packaging in a cool, dry place below 25°C. Keep them away from direct sunlight and moisture to maintain their effectiveness and ensure they dissolve properly when needed.

Always check the expiry date before use and keep the medicine out of reach and sight of children. The individual packaging helps protect each tablet and makes it easy to carry the exact number of doses you need.

This product is a medicine. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using if you have an underlying medical condition or are taking other medicines.

Recommended Dosage for Children Aged 6 Years and Over

You should give your child one tablet every 4 to 6 hours as needed for pain or fever relief. Do not exceed 4 tablets in any 24-hour period. The tablets are designed for children weighing 20kg or more, which typically corresponds to children aged 6 years and above.

Always check your child's weight and age before administering the medicine. If your child weighs less than 20kg or is under 6 years old, you should use an alternative paracetamol formulation designed for younger children with appropriate dosing instructions.

How to Administer the Fast-Dissolving Tablets

You should place the tablet directly on your child's tongue where it will dissolve quickly without the need for water. The tablet typically dissolves within 30 seconds to 1 minute. Your child can swallow normally as the tablet dissolves, and they may drink water afterwards if they wish.

Ensure your child's hands are clean before handling the tablet, and remove it from the packaging just before use. If your child has difficulty keeping the tablet on their tongue, you can allow them to drink a small amount of water to help with swallowing once the tablet begins to dissolve.
