Calpol Six Plus Sugar Free Suspension for Children's Pain and Fever Relief

You can trust this sugar-free paracetamol suspension to provide effective relief from your child's pain and fever. Specially formulated for children aged 6 years and over, this 200ml bottle contains paracetamol in a pleasant-tasting liquid that's easier for children to take than tablets. The sugar-free formulation makes it suitable for children who need to avoid sugar in their diet.

This medicine works by reducing fever and providing relief from mild to moderate pain, including headaches, toothache, sore throat, and the aches and pains associated with colds and flu. You'll find it particularly useful when your child is feeling unwell and needs gentle, effective symptom relief.

How Paracetamol Works to Reduce Pain and Fever

The active ingredient paracetamol works by blocking the production of certain chemicals in your child's body that cause pain and fever. It acts on the part of the brain that controls body temperature, helping to bring down a high temperature when your child has a fever.

Unlike some other pain relievers, paracetamol is gentle on the stomach and doesn't cause the digestive upset that can occur with other medicines. This makes it a suitable first-choice treatment for children's pain and fever relief when used as directed.

Suitable for Children Who Need Sugar-Free Medicines

This calpol six plus sugar free formulation is particularly beneficial for children who need to avoid sugar for medical or dietary reasons. You can give it to children with diabetes, those following sugar-restricted diets, or simply parents who prefer to limit their child's sugar intake even when they're unwell.

The medicine is suitable for:

  • Children aged 6 years and over
  • Children who need sugar-free medications
  • Relief from fever, headache, toothache, and cold symptoms
  • Children who have difficulty swallowing tablets

You can also explore our baby and toddler collection for other age-appropriate medicines and healthcare products.

Why Choose Sugar-Free Formulations for Your Child

Choosing sugar-free medicines helps protect your child's dental health, especially important when they may be taking medicine regularly. Sugar-free formulations reduce the risk of tooth decay and are better for children's overall oral health.

The absence of sugar also means this medicine won't contribute to blood sugar spikes, making it safer for children with diabetes or those who need to monitor their sugar intake carefully. Despite being sugar-free, the medicine still has a pleasant taste that children will accept readily.

Storage and Clinical Suitability Information

You should store this medicine below 25°C and keep it out of reach and sight of children. Don't use the medicine after the expiry date shown on the packaging, and once opened, use within 6 months or by the expiry date, whichever comes first.

This medicine is clinically proven to be safe and effective when used according to the directions. Always check with your pharmacist if you're unsure about giving this medicine alongside other treatments your child may be taking.

This product is a medicine. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using if you have an underlying medical condition or are taking other medicines.

Correct Dosage for Children Aged 6 Years and Over

You should always follow the dosage instructions on the packaging and never exceed the recommended dose. The medicine comes with a measuring spoon or syringe to help you give the correct amount. Always use the measuring device provided rather than household spoons, which can vary in size and lead to incorrect dosing.

Give doses at least 4 hours apart and don't give more than 4 doses in any 24-hour period. If your child's symptoms persist for more than 3 days, or if they get worse, you should consult your doctor or pharmacist for further advice.

How to Administer the Suspension Safely

Shake the bottle well before each use to ensure the medicine is properly mixed. You can give this medicine with or without food, though giving it with food may help if your child has a sensitive stomach. Make sure your child drinks some water after taking the medicine to help wash it down.

Always replace the cap tightly after use and clean the measuring device after each dose. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking a dose, you can give the same dose again. However, if vomiting continues, stop giving the medicine and seek medical advice.

Understanding Possible Side Effects of Paracetamol Suspension

If you're concerned about any symptoms, you can find additional support through our pain relief collection or speak to your pharmacist.
