Calpol Infant Strawberry Sugar Free Suspension for Baby Pain Relief

This calpol infant suspension provides effective pain relief and fever reduction for babies from 2 months old. The strawberry-flavoured formula contains paracetamol as the active ingredient, specifically formulated for infant use with a gentle sugar-free composition. You can trust this medicine to help manage your baby's discomfort during teething, after vaccinations, or when they have minor aches and pains.

The 200ml bottle provides multiple doses with the included measuring syringe for accurate administration. This formulation has been developed to be gentle on young digestive systems whilst maintaining effective therapeutic action.

How Paracetamol Works in Infant Formulations

Paracetamol works by blocking the production of prostaglandins in your baby's brain, which are chemicals that cause pain and fever. This action helps reduce your child's temperature and provides relief from discomfort without causing stomach irritation that can occur with some other pain relief medicines.

The liquid formulation allows for rapid absorption, typically beginning to work within 30 minutes of administration. The effects can last for up to 4 hours, providing sustained comfort for your baby during illness or discomfort.

Suitable for Infants from 2 Months

This infant suspension is specifically designed for babies and young children who cannot yet take solid medicines. The pleasant strawberry flavour helps make administration easier, whilst the sugar-free formulation protects developing teeth from unnecessary sugar exposure.

This medicine is appropriate for:

  • Babies from 2 months old weighing over 4kg
  • Children who have difficulty swallowing tablets
  • Infants requiring precise dosing with the measuring syringe
  • Families seeking sugar-free options for dental health

You can use this alongside other baby and toddler healthcare products as part of your child's wellness routine.

Why Choose Sugar-Free Formulations

The sugar-free composition helps protect your baby's developing teeth from decay whilst still providing the same effective pain relief as standard formulations. This is particularly important for infants who may require regular doses during illness or teething periods.

The absence of sugar also reduces the risk of digestive upset that can sometimes occur with sweetened medicines, making it gentler on sensitive infant stomachs.

Storage and Clinical Suitability

Store this medicine below 25°C and keep the bottle tightly closed. Do not use after the expiry date and discard any remaining medicine 6 months after first opening. Always use the measuring syringe provided to ensure accurate dosing for your baby's weight and age.

This formulation is suitable for most infants, but you should consult your pharmacist if your baby has liver problems, is taking other medicines, or if symptoms persist beyond 3 days.

This product is a medicine. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using if you have an underlying medical condition or are taking other medicines.

Dosage Instructions for Infant Paracetamol

Always use the measuring syringe provided and base the dose on your baby's weight rather than age where possible. For babies aged 2-3 months, give 2.5ml up to twice daily, with at least 4 hours between doses. For babies aged 4-11 months, give 2.5ml up to 4 times daily, again ensuring at least 4 hours between each dose.

You should not exceed the stated dose or give more frequently than recommended. If your baby weighs less than expected for their age, consult your pharmacist for appropriate dosing guidance.

Administration Method and Timing

Shake the bottle well before each use and draw up the correct amount using the measuring syringe. You can give this medicine directly into your baby's mouth or mix it with a small amount of milk or water if preferred. The medicine can be given with or without food.

If your baby vomits within 30 minutes of taking a dose, you may give the same dose again. However, if vomiting continues, stop giving the medicine and consult your doctor or pharmacist for advice.
