Accu Chek Fastclix Lancets for Blood Glucose Testing

You receive 204 sterile lancets designed specifically for use with the Accu-Chek FastClix lancing device. Each lancet features a fine 30-gauge needle that creates a small puncture wound for blood sampling. The lancets come pre-loaded in a convenient drum format that eliminates the need to handle individual lancets.

These accu chek fastclix lancets are manufactured to strict quality standards and undergo sterilisation processes to ensure safety during blood glucose monitoring. The drum system allows you to advance to a fresh lancet with each use, maintaining hygiene throughout your testing routine.

How the FastClix Lancet System Works

The lancets operate through a spring-loaded mechanism within the FastClix device. When you press the device against your fingertip, the lancet penetrates the skin briefly before retracting automatically. This controlled depth helps ensure consistent blood samples whilst minimising discomfort.

Each lancet drum contains multiple lancets arranged in a circular pattern. After each use, you simply click the drum to advance to the next sterile lancet. The used lancet remains safely contained within the drum, reducing the risk of accidental needle stick injuries. For comprehensive diabetes monitoring needs, these lancets form part of your regular testing routine.

Who Should Use These Diabetes Lancets

These fastclix lancets are suitable for adults and children who require regular blood glucose monitoring. Healthcare professionals often recommend them for people with type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, or gestational diabetes who need to check their blood sugar levels multiple times daily.

The lancets are particularly beneficial for:

  • People who test blood glucose frequently and need a hygienic lancet system
  • Individuals seeking consistent puncture depth for reliable blood samples
  • Those who prefer not to handle individual lancets directly
  • Users who want to reduce the risk of accidental needle stick injuries

Why Choose Pre-Loaded Lancet Drums

The drum format offers several practical advantages over traditional single-use lancets. You avoid the need to load individual lancets into your device, which can be fiddly and time-consuming. The pre-loaded system also reduces waste packaging compared to individually wrapped lancets.

Each drum maintains the sterility of unused lancets whilst safely containing used ones. This design feature is particularly important for maintaining infection control standards, especially if you test your blood glucose in various locations throughout the day.

Storage and Compatibility Requirements

Store your blood glucose lancets in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep the original packaging intact until you're ready to use each drum. Check the expiry date before use and dispose of expired lancets according to your local healthcare waste guidelines.

These lancets are designed exclusively for use with Accu-Chek FastClix lancing devices and are not compatible with other lancing systems. Ensure your FastClix device is clean and functioning properly before inserting a new lancet drum.

This product is a medicine. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using if you have an underlying medical condition or are taking other medicines.

How to Use Your FastClix Lancets

Remove the cap from your Accu-Chek FastClix device and insert a new lancet drum by aligning the arrows and pushing firmly until it clicks into place. Replace the cap and prime the device by pressing the yellow button until it clicks. Select your desired depth setting using the comfort dial on the side of the device.

Testing Procedure and Lancet Advancement

Wash your hands thoroughly and dry them completely before testing. Place the FastClix device firmly against the side of your fingertip and press the release button to activate the lancet. After obtaining your blood sample, advance to the next fresh lancet by clicking the drum forward until you hear it click into position. The device is now ready for your next test.

Potential Side Effects of Lancet Use

Like all medical devices, Accu-Chek FastClix Lancets can cause side effects, although not everyone will experience them. Most side effects are related to the puncture site and typically resolve quickly without treatment. If you're managing multiple health conditions, you may find our first aid products helpful for wound care.

The most common side effects occur at the puncture site and include minor bleeding, temporary pain, or slight bruising. These effects are generally mild and short-lived.

Possible side effects may include:

  • Minor bleeding at the puncture site
  • Temporary stinging or pain during puncture
  • Small bruising around the test site
  • Slight swelling at the puncture location
  • Skin irritation in sensitive individuals
  • Callus formation with frequent testing at the same site
  • Infection if proper hygiene is not maintained
  • Scarring with repeated use at identical locations

If you experience these or any other side effects, speak to your doctor or pharmacist right away. For more information about reporting side effects please see the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
