Sudocrem Nappy Rash Cream - Gentle Protection for Your Baby's Skin

Sudocrem Care & Protect Cream provides gentle yet effective protection for your baby's delicate skin. This zinc oxide-based formula creates a protective barrier that helps prevent nappy rash whilst soothing existing irritation. The cream's water-repellent properties help shield your baby's skin from moisture and irritants that can cause discomfort.

This 30g tube offers convenient portability for nappy changes at home or when you're out and about. The cream applies smoothly and creates a breathable barrier that allows your baby's skin to heal naturally whilst remaining protected from further irritation.

How Sudocrem Works to Protect Baby's Skin

The active ingredient zinc oxide forms a protective layer on your baby's skin surface. This barrier helps prevent moisture and bacteria from causing irritation whilst allowing the skin underneath to breathe and recover. The cream's antiseptic properties help maintain skin cleanliness in the nappy area.

When applied correctly, the cream creates a thin, protective film that doesn't completely block the skin's natural functions. This allows healing to occur whilst preventing further damage from wetness and friction during nappy changes.

Who Can Benefit from This Nappy Rash Treatment

This sudocrem nappy rash cream is suitable for babies and young children experiencing nappy rash or those at risk of developing skin irritation. Parents often find it particularly helpful during teething periods when babies may experience more frequent loose stools that can irritate the skin.

The cream is appropriate for:

  • Babies with sensitive skin prone to nappy rash
  • Children experiencing existing mild to moderate nappy rash
  • Daily use as a preventative barrier cream
  • Babies during illness when nappy changes are more frequent

You can find this product alongside other baby and toddler care essentials to support your child's health and comfort.

Why Choose a Zinc Oxide Formula

Zinc oxide has been used for decades in nappy rash treatments due to its proven protective and healing properties. Unlike some alternatives, zinc oxide provides both immediate barrier protection and supports the skin's natural healing process without causing further irritation.

The mineral-based formula is generally well-tolerated by sensitive baby skin and doesn't contain harsh chemicals that might cause additional reactions. This makes it a reliable choice for regular use as part of your baby's nappy changing routine.

Storage and Clinical Suitability

Store this cream at room temperature away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Keep the tube tightly closed when not in use to maintain the cream's consistency and effectiveness. The 30g size makes it ideal for keeping in your changing bag or nursery.

This product has been formulated specifically for use on baby's delicate skin. However, if your baby's nappy rash persists for more than a few days or appears to worsen, consult your health visitor or GP for further advice.

This product is a medicine. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using if you have an underlying medical condition or are taking other medicines.

How to Apply Sudocrem Care & Protect Cream

Clean and thoroughly dry your baby's nappy area before applying the cream. Use clean hands or a clean applicator to take a small amount of cream from the tube. Apply a thin, even layer to the affected area or areas where nappy rash commonly occurs.

You don't need to rub the cream in completely - a visible thin layer on the skin surface is normal and indicates the protective barrier is in place. Avoid applying too thick a layer as this can prevent proper adhesion of the fresh nappy.

When and How Often to Use

Apply the cream at each nappy change, particularly if your baby shows signs of skin irritation or redness. For prevention, you can use it once or twice daily during your regular nappy changing routine. If treating existing nappy rash, apply after each nappy change until the skin has healed.

Continue using the cream for a day or two after the rash has cleared to ensure the skin has fully recovered. If you notice any worsening of the condition or if the rash doesn't improve within three days, seek advice from your pharmacist or healthcare provider.

Possible Side Effects of Sudocrem Care & Protect Cream

Like all medicines, Sudocrem Care & Protect Cream can have side effects, although not everyone will experience them. Most babies tolerate zinc oxide-based creams well, but some may experience mild skin reactions, particularly if they have very sensitive skin or allergies to any of the ingredients.

If you notice any unusual reactions, discontinue use and consider consulting other skin care products that may be more suitable for your baby's specific needs.

The most commonly reported side effects include:

  • Mild skin irritation at the application site
  • Temporary redness after application
  • Skin dryness with prolonged use
  • Contact dermatitis in sensitive individuals
  • Localised itching or burning sensation
  • Skin discolouration (temporary)
  • Allergic reactions in rare cases
  • Increased sensitivity to the treated area

If you experience these or any other side effects, speak to your doctor or pharmacist right away. For more information about reporting side effects please see the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
