Pasante Internal Female Condoms for Effective Barrier Contraception

You can take control of your sexual health with Pasante Internal Condoms, designed specifically for internal use. These barrier contraceptives provide you with protection against both unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections when used correctly. The polyurethane material offers you a latex-free alternative that conducts heat effectively, enhancing sensation during intimate moments.

Each pack contains three individually wrapped condoms that you can use for reliable contraception. The design allows you to insert the condom up to eight hours before intercourse, giving you greater flexibility and spontaneity in your intimate relationships.

How Internal Condoms Work to Protect You

The internal condom creates a barrier that prevents sperm from reaching the egg whilst also protecting against sexually transmitted infections. You insert the condom into the vagina before intercourse, where it lines the vaginal walls and covers the external genital area partially.

The condom features two flexible rings - an inner ring that helps with insertion and positioning, and an outer ring that remains outside the body during use. This design ensures the condom stays in place throughout intercourse whilst providing comprehensive protection for both partners.

Who Can Benefit from Using Internal Condoms

These condoms suit you if you prefer to have direct control over your contraceptive method or if your partner cannot use external condoms. They work particularly well if you have a latex allergy, as the polyurethane material is hypoallergenic and safe for sensitive skin.

Internal condoms are suitable for you if:

  • You want protection that you can insert hours before intercourse
  • You or your partner have latex allergies or sensitivities
  • You prefer a contraceptive method that doesn't require hormones
  • You want dual protection against pregnancy and STIs

You can use these condoms regardless of your menstrual cycle, and they don't interact with other medications or affect your natural hormone levels. For additional sexual health products, explore our condoms and sexual health range.

Why Choose Polyurethane Over Latex Materials

Polyurethane offers you several advantages over traditional latex condoms. The material is thinner than latex whilst maintaining strength and durability, allowing for better heat transfer and enhanced sensation. You'll find that polyurethane doesn't cause the allergic reactions that some people experience with latex products.

The material also allows you to use any type of lubricant safely, including oil-based products that would damage latex condoms. Female condoms made from polyurethane maintain their integrity with all lubricant types, giving you more options for comfort during use.

Clinical Effectiveness and Proper Storage

When used correctly and consistently, internal condoms are approximately 95% effective at preventing pregnancy. You should store them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and sharp objects that could damage the packaging.

Check the expiry date before use and inspect each condom for any tears or defects in the packaging. You should never reuse an internal condom, and each one is designed for single use only to maintain optimal protection.

This product is a medicine. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using if you have an underlying medical condition or are taking other medicines.

How to Insert and Use Internal Condoms Correctly

You should wash your hands thoroughly before handling the condom. Remove the condom from its packaging carefully, avoiding sharp fingernails or jewellery that could tear the material. Find a comfortable position, such as lying down, squatting, or standing with one foot raised.

Squeeze the inner ring at the closed end of the condom and insert it into your vagina, pushing it up as far as it will go. The outer ring should remain outside your body, covering part of your external genital area. You can insert the condom up to eight hours before intercourse.

Removal and Disposal After Use

You should remove the condom immediately after intercourse and before standing up. Squeeze and twist the outer ring to keep semen inside the condom, then pull it out gently. Wrap the used condom in tissue and dispose of it in household waste - never flush it down the toilet as this can cause blockages.

You must use a new condom for each act of intercourse. Never attempt to wash or reuse an internal condom, as this compromises its effectiveness and increases the risk of pregnancy or infection.

Understanding Potential Side Effects and Reactions

Like all barrier contraceptives, Pasante Internal Condoms can occasionally cause side effects, although not everyone will experience them. Most side effects are mild and relate to the physical presence of the device or individual sensitivity. If you're exploring other women's health options, discuss any concerns with your pharmacist.

The most common side effects include temporary discomfort during insertion or removal, and occasional irritation if the condom moves during use. Some users report initial difficulty with insertion technique, which typically improves with practice.

Possible side effects may include:

  • Vaginal irritation or discomfort
  • Temporary burning or stinging sensation
  • Unusual vaginal discharge
  • Difficulty with insertion or removal
  • Allergic reaction to polyurethane (rare)
  • Urinary tract irritation
  • Reduced sensation during intercourse
  • Condom slipping or displacement during use

If you experience these or any other side effects, speak to your doctor or pharmacist right away. For more information about reporting side effects please see the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
