Hylo Tear Preservative-Free Dry Eye Drops - 10ml

Hylo Tear is a preservative-free eye lubricant designed to provide relief from dry, irritated eyes. This sterile solution contains sodium hyaluronate, which helps restore the natural moisture balance of your eyes by forming a protective film over the eye surface. The 10ml bottle provides long-lasting relief and is suitable for frequent daily use.

Each drop delivers consistent lubrication to help reduce the discomfort associated with dry eye syndrome. The solution mimics your natural tears, providing immediate comfort whilst supporting your eye's natural healing processes. You can use Hylo Tear alongside contact lenses and other eye care treatments.

How Hylo Tear Works to Restore Eye Moisture

The active ingredient sodium hyaluronate is a naturally occurring substance that can hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water. When applied to your eye surface, it creates a stable, long-lasting tear film that helps maintain proper eye hydration. This mechanism helps reduce friction between your eyelid and eye surface during blinking.

The solution works by supplementing your natural tear production, particularly beneficial when your eyes cannot produce sufficient tears on their own. The viscous nature of sodium hyaluronate ensures the drops remain on your eye surface longer than standard saline solutions, providing extended relief from dryness and irritation.

Who Should Use These Artificial Tears

Hylo Tear is suitable for adults and children experiencing dry eye symptoms. You may benefit from these dry eye drops if you experience regular eye discomfort, particularly those who spend long periods using digital screens or work in air-conditioned environments.

This eye lubricant is particularly helpful for people with:

  • Chronic dry eye syndrome
  • Computer vision syndrome from screen use
  • Environmental dry eye from wind, dust, or air conditioning
  • Age-related tear production changes

Why Choose Preservative-Free Eye Lubricant

Preservative-free formulations reduce the risk of eye irritation and allergic reactions that can occur with preserved eye drops. This is particularly important if you need to use eye drops frequently throughout the day, as preservatives can accumulate and cause additional eye surface damage over time.

The unique bottle design maintains sterility without preservatives through a special valve system. This allows for multiple applications whilst preventing contamination, making it safer for long-term use compared to traditional preserved eye drops.

Clinical Suitability and Storage Requirements

Hylo Tear is clinically tested and suitable for use with all types of contact lenses. You can apply the drops whilst wearing your lenses, making it convenient for daily lens wearers who experience dryness throughout the day.

Store the bottle at room temperature and use within 12 weeks of first opening. Keep the bottle upright when not in use and ensure the tip does not touch your eye or any surface to maintain sterility. The bottle should be discarded 12 weeks after opening, even if solution remains.

This product is a medicine. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using if you have an underlying medical condition or are taking other medicines.

How to Apply Hylo Tear Eye Drops

Remove the cap and hold the bottle upright between your thumb and fingers. Tilt your head back slightly and gently pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket. Hold the bottle above your eye and gently squeeze to release one drop into the pocket of your lower eyelid. Avoid touching the bottle tip to your eye or eyelid.

Close your eye gently and blink several times to distribute the solution across your eye surface. If you wear contact lenses, you can apply the drops directly onto your lenses whilst wearing them. Replace the cap immediately after use to maintain sterility.

Recommended Dosage and Frequency

Apply one drop to each affected eye as needed throughout the day. You can use Hylo Tear as frequently as required for comfort, as the preservative-free formula is gentle enough for regular use. Most people find relief with 1-2 drops per eye, 3-4 times daily, but you may adjust the frequency based on your symptoms.

For contact lens wearers, apply one drop directly onto each lens before insertion, or onto the eye whilst wearing lenses. If you experience persistent discomfort or your symptoms worsen, consult your pharmacist or doctor for further advice.

Potential Side Effects of Hylo Tear

Like all medicines, Hylo Tear can have side effects, although not everyone will experience them. Most people tolerate this preservative-free solution well, but some may experience mild reactions, particularly when first starting treatment or if you have sensitive eyes. If you experience any concerning symptoms, consider consulting other allergy and hay fever treatments if your symptoms are allergy-related.

The most commonly reported side effects are usually mild and temporary, occurring in the first few days of use as your eyes adjust to the treatment.

  • Temporary blurred vision immediately after application
  • Mild eye irritation or stinging sensation
  • Increased tear production
  • Slight burning feeling upon instillation
  • Eye redness or inflammation
  • Feeling of something in the eye
  • Eyelid swelling or irritation
  • Sensitivity to light
  • Discharge from the eye
  • Itching around the eye area
  • Headache following application
  • Allergic reaction symptoms

If you experience these or any other side effects, speak to your doctor or pharmacist right away. For more information about reporting side effects please see the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
