A&D Medical UB-525 Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor

The A&D Medical UB-525 provides accurate blood pressure readings from the comfort of your home. This digital device measures both systolic and diastolic pressure along with pulse rate, displaying results clearly on its LCD screen. You can monitor your cardiovascular health regularly without needing to visit a healthcare facility.

This compact device stores previous readings in its memory, allowing you to track blood pressure patterns over time. The automatic inflation and deflation system ensures consistent measurement technique, whilst the one-touch operation makes it simple to use for people of all ages.

How the UB-525 Wrist Monitor Works

The monitor uses oscillometric technology to detect blood flow through your radial artery at the wrist. When you press the start button, the cuff automatically inflates to temporarily stop blood flow, then gradually deflates whilst sensors detect the vibrations caused by blood returning to the artery.

The device calculates your blood pressure by analysing these vibrations and displays the results within 30-60 seconds. The wrist blood pressure monitor provides readings in mmHg (millimetres of mercury), the standard unit used by healthcare professionals worldwide.

Who Should Use This Blood Pressure Monitor

This monitor suits adults who need regular blood pressure monitoring as recommended by their doctor. It's particularly useful for people managing hypertension, those with family history of cardiovascular disease, or individuals wanting to maintain awareness of their blood pressure status. For comprehensive health monitoring, you might also consider our electrical health and diagnostic range.

The wrist design offers several practical advantages:

  • Easier to position than upper arm monitors for people with limited mobility
  • More comfortable for individuals with larger upper arms
  • Portable size makes it convenient for travel or workplace use
  • Quick setup without needing to remove clothing

Why Choose Automatic Blood Pressure Monitoring

Automatic monitors eliminate human error in measurement technique, providing more consistent results than manual methods. The UB-525 removes the guesswork from blood pressure monitoring by controlling inflation pressure and deflation rate automatically. This consistency helps you and your healthcare provider make better decisions about your treatment.

Regular home monitoring can also help identify white coat hypertension, where blood pressure readings are higher in clinical settings due to anxiety. Home readings often provide a more accurate picture of your typical blood pressure throughout daily activities.

Clinical Accuracy and Storage Requirements

The A&D Medical UB-525 meets international accuracy standards for blood pressure measurement devices. Store the monitor in a dry location at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. The device requires 2 AAA batteries for operation, and battery life depends on frequency of use.

Keep the monitor clean by wiping the cuff and main unit with a slightly damp cloth. Avoid submerging any part of the device in water or using harsh cleaning chemicals that could damage the sensitive components.

This product is a medicine. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using if you have an underlying medical condition or are taking other medicines.

How to Use Your Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor

Sit quietly for 5 minutes before taking a measurement. Remove any tight clothing from your wrist and ensure the area is clean and dry. Position the cuff on your left wrist with the display facing upward, approximately 1cm above your wrist bone. The cuff should feel snug but not tight enough to restrict circulation.

Rest your arm on a table or armrest so your wrist is at heart level. Keep your feet flat on the floor and avoid talking during the measurement. Press the start button and remain still whilst the cuff inflates and deflates automatically.

When to Take Blood Pressure Readings

Take measurements at the same time each day for consistency, ideally in the morning before breakfast and evening before dinner. Avoid measuring within 30 minutes of eating, drinking caffeine, smoking, or exercising, as these activities can temporarily affect your blood pressure. Wait at least one minute between consecutive readings if you need to repeat a measurement.

Record your readings in a diary or logbook to share with your healthcare provider. Take multiple readings over several days rather than relying on single measurements, as blood pressure naturally varies throughout the day.

Understanding Blood Pressure Monitor Limitations

Like all blood pressure monitors, the A&D Medical UB-525 may occasionally provide inaccurate readings due to various factors. Most issues relate to improper positioning, movement during measurement, or underlying medical conditions that affect blood flow. If you're managing cardiovascular health, you might also benefit from our vitamins and supplements range for heart health support.

Wrist monitors may be less accurate than upper arm devices for some individuals, particularly those with certain heart rhythm disorders or peripheral vascular disease.

Factors that can affect reading accuracy include:

  • Incorrect wrist positioning relative to heart level
  • Movement or talking during measurement
  • Irregular heartbeat or arrhythmia
  • Very low or very high blood pressure readings
  • Poor circulation in the wrist area
  • Cuff positioned incorrectly on the wrist
  • Taking measurements too frequently without adequate rest
  • Battery power running low
  • Extreme ambient temperatures affecting device function
  • Damaged or worn cuff affecting proper inflation
  • Interference from electronic devices nearby
  • Recent physical activity or emotional stress

If you experience consistently unusual readings or have concerns about your blood pressure measurements, speak to your doctor or pharmacist right away. For more information about reporting device issues please see the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
