A&D Medical UA-651 Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor

The A&D Medical UA-651 provides accurate blood pressure readings in the comfort of your own home. This digital device measures both systolic and diastolic blood pressure along with pulse rate, displaying results clearly on an easy-to-read LCD screen. You can monitor your cardiovascular health regularly without frequent visits to your healthcare provider.

This upper arm blood pressure monitor features automatic inflation and deflation, making it simple to operate independently. The device stores previous readings, allowing you to track changes in your blood pressure over time and share this information with your doctor during consultations.

How the UA-651 Blood Pressure Monitor Works

The monitor uses oscillometric measurement technology to detect blood flow through your brachial artery. When you place the cuff around your upper arm and press the start button, the device automatically inflates to the appropriate pressure level. As the cuff gradually deflates, sensors detect the vibrations in your artery walls caused by blood flow.

The microprocessor analyses these oscillations to calculate your systolic pressure, diastolic pressure, and pulse rate. Results appear on the digital display within approximately 30 seconds of starting the measurement cycle.

Who Should Use This Blood Pressure Monitor

This device suits adults who need regular blood pressure monitoring as recommended by their healthcare provider. It's particularly useful for people managing hypertension, those with family history of cardiovascular disease, or individuals whose doctors have advised home monitoring. For comprehensive health management, you might also consider our electrical health and diagnostic range.

The monitor is appropriate for:

  • Adults with arm circumferences between 22cm and 32cm
  • People who can sit still during measurement
  • Those able to position the cuff correctly on their upper arm
  • Individuals seeking to track blood pressure trends over time

Why Choose Digital Home Monitoring

Home blood pressure monitoring provides several clinical advantages over occasional clinic measurements. You can take readings at consistent times of day, reducing the variability that affects single clinic readings. This helps your doctor assess your true blood pressure patterns and adjust treatment accordingly.

Regular monitoring also eliminates "white coat syndrome" - the temporary blood pressure elevation some people experience in medical settings. Home readings often provide a more accurate representation of your typical blood pressure levels throughout daily activities.

Clinical Accuracy and Storage Requirements

The A&D Medical UA-651 meets international accuracy standards for home blood pressure monitors. Store the device at room temperature away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep the cuff clean and avoid folding or twisting it when not in use, as this can affect measurement accuracy.

Replace the batteries when the low battery indicator appears to ensure consistent performance. The device should be calibrated according to the manufacturer's recommendations to maintain measurement precision over time.

This product is a medicine. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using if you have an underlying medical condition or are taking other medicines.

How to Use Your Blood Pressure Monitor

Sit quietly for five minutes before taking a measurement. Remove tight clothing from your upper arm and wrap the cuff around your bare arm, positioning it 2-3cm above your elbow. The cuff should feel snug but not tight - you should be able to slip one finger underneath. Ensure the air tube runs down the inside of your arm.

Rest your arm on a table at heart level and remain still during measurement. Press the start button and allow the cuff to inflate automatically. Avoid talking or moving until the measurement is complete and results appear on the display.

When to Take Blood Pressure Readings

Take measurements at the same times each day for consistency. Most healthcare providers recommend morning and evening readings. Avoid measuring within 30 minutes of eating, drinking caffeine, smoking, or exercising, as these activities can temporarily affect your blood pressure.

Take two or three readings one minute apart and record the average. If readings vary significantly, wait a few minutes and repeat the process. Keep a written record of your results to share with your healthcare provider.

Understanding Blood Pressure Monitor Limitations

Like all medical devices, the A&D Medical UA-651 blood pressure monitor has certain limitations you should be aware of. While generally accurate for most users, various factors can affect reading reliability. If you're managing cardiovascular conditions, you may also benefit from our vitamins and supplements range to support overall heart health.

Incorrect cuff placement, movement during measurement, or irregular heartbeat can lead to inaccurate readings. Environmental factors and device maintenance also influence measurement precision.

Factors that may affect accuracy include:

  • Cuff positioned incorrectly on the arm
  • Talking or moving during measurement
  • Irregular heart rhythm or arrhythmia
  • Arm circumference outside the recommended range
  • Low battery power affecting device function
  • Extreme temperatures during storage or use
  • Damaged or worn cuff affecting inflation
  • Taking measurements too frequently without rest periods
  • Recent physical activity or emotional stress
  • Caffeine consumption within 30 minutes of measurement
  • Incorrect arm positioning relative to heart level
  • Device calibration drift over extended use

If you experience consistently unusual readings or device malfunctions, consult your healthcare provider or contact the manufacturer. For more information about reporting device issues, please see the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
