Strepsils Honey Lemon Lozenges for Sore Throat and Blocked Nose Relief

You can rely on these medicated lozenges to provide dual-action relief when you're suffering from both sore throat and nasal congestion. Each lozenge contains two active antiseptic ingredients that work locally in your mouth and throat to help fight bacterial infections whilst providing soothing relief.

The honey and lemon flavour makes taking your medicine more pleasant, whilst the slow-dissolving action ensures the active ingredients remain in contact with the affected area for optimal effectiveness. This pack contains 36 lozenges, providing you with sufficient treatment for several days of symptoms.

How These Antiseptic Lozenges Work in Your Throat

The two antiseptic agents in each lozenge work by targeting bacteria that can cause throat infections and inflammation. As you slowly dissolve the lozenge in your mouth, these ingredients are released gradually, allowing them to coat your throat and provide sustained antibacterial action.

The formulation also helps to reduce inflammation in your throat tissues, which can ease the pain and discomfort associated with sore throats. The menthol component provides additional cooling relief and can help clear nasal passages when you're experiencing congestion alongside your throat symptoms.

Who Can Benefit from This Throat Treatment

These strepsils honey lemon lozenges are suitable for adults and children over 6 years of age who are experiencing sore throat symptoms with or without nasal congestion. They're particularly useful when you need relief from multiple upper respiratory symptoms simultaneously.

This treatment is ideal for you if you're experiencing:

  • Painful or scratchy throat sensations
  • Difficulty swallowing due to throat inflammation
  • Minor throat infections with bacterial involvement
  • Blocked nose accompanying your sore throat

If you're looking for additional support for respiratory symptoms, you might also consider browsing our cold and flu collection for complementary treatments.

Why Choose Medicated Lozenges for Throat Relief

Medicated lozenges offer several advantages over other forms of throat treatment. The slow-dissolving action ensures prolonged contact time between the active ingredients and your throat tissues, maximising the therapeutic benefit you receive from each dose.

Unlike throat sprays or gargles, lozenges are convenient to use anywhere and don't require water or measuring. The honey and lemon flavour also helps stimulate saliva production, which naturally helps keep your throat moist and comfortable during the healing process.

Storage Requirements and Shelf Life Considerations

You should store these lozenges in a cool, dry place below 25°C and keep them in their original packaging to protect them from moisture. Keep the pack tightly closed between uses and ensure they're stored out of reach of children.

Check the expiry date on the packaging before use and do not use the lozenges beyond this date. Proper storage will help maintain the effectiveness of the active ingredients throughout the product's shelf life.

This product is a medicine. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using if you have an underlying medical condition or are taking other medicines.

Recommended Dosage for Adults and Children

Adults and children over 12 years should dissolve one lozenge slowly in the mouth every 2-3 hours as required. You should not exceed 12 lozenges in any 24-hour period. Children aged 6-12 years should take one lozenge every 4 hours, with a maximum of 6 lozenges in 24 hours.

Allow each lozenge to dissolve completely in your mouth rather than chewing or swallowing it whole. This ensures the active ingredients can work effectively in your throat area. Do not take more than the recommended dose, as this will not improve your symptoms and may cause unwanted effects.

Proper Administration Technique for Maximum Benefit

Place the lozenge in your mouth and allow it to dissolve slowly, moving it around occasionally with your tongue to ensure even distribution of the active ingredients. Avoid eating or drinking for at least 30 minutes after taking a lozenge to allow the antiseptic ingredients to work effectively.

If your symptoms persist for more than 3 days or worsen during treatment, you should stop using the lozenges and consult your doctor or pharmacist. Do not use this product for more than 7 consecutive days without medical advice.
