FlowFlex Antigen Rapid Covid Test Kit for Home Testing

You can now test for COVID-19 at home with this lateral flow test that provides results in just 15 minutes. The FlowFlex test detects SARS-CoV-2 antigens in nasal samples, helping you identify current infections quickly and conveniently. This single-use test kit contains everything you need to perform the test safely at home.

The test works by detecting viral proteins from COVID-19 in your nasal sample. Each kit includes a test cassette, extraction buffer, sterile swab, and clear instructions to guide you through the process step by step.

How the FlowFlex Test Works

The test uses lateral flow technology to identify COVID-19 antigens in your nasal secretions. You collect a sample using the provided sterile swab, mix it with the extraction buffer, and apply drops to the test cassette. The results appear as coloured lines on the test window within 15 minutes.

This rapid antigen test is designed to detect active COVID-19 infections when viral levels are typically highest. The test sensitivity is optimised for detecting the virus during the infectious period when you're most likely to transmit it to others.

Who Should Use This COVID-19 Test

This covid test kit is suitable for adults and children over 2 years of age who want to test for COVID-19 at home. You might choose to test if you have symptoms, have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, or need to check your status before visiting vulnerable people.

The test is particularly useful for:

  • People experiencing COVID-19 symptoms like fever, cough, or loss of taste/smell
  • Individuals who have been in close contact with confirmed cases
  • Those requiring regular testing for work or travel purposes
  • Anyone wanting peace of mind before social gatherings or visiting elderly relatives

Accurate Results You Can Trust

The FlowFlex test has undergone rigorous clinical evaluation to ensure reliable performance. The test provides clear, easy-to-read results with distinct control and test lines that appear when the test is working correctly. A positive result shows two lines, whilst a negative result shows only the control line.

The test is most accurate when used within the first few days of symptom onset, when viral loads are typically at their highest. However, a negative result doesn't completely rule out COVID-19 infection, especially if you have symptoms or known exposure.

Storage and Shelf Life Information

Store your test kit at room temperature between 2°C and 30°C in a dry place away from direct sunlight. Do not freeze the test components or expose them to excessive heat. Check the expiry date printed on the packaging before use, as expired tests may not provide accurate results.

Each test is individually sealed to maintain sterility and effectiveness. Only open the test cassette when you're ready to perform the test, and use it immediately after opening to ensure optimal performance.

This product is a medicine. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using if you have an underlying medical condition or are taking other medicines.

How to Perform Your COVID-19 Test

Wash your hands thoroughly before starting and ensure you have a clean, flat surface to work on. Remove all components from the packaging and check that everything is present. Wait for the test to reach room temperature if it has been stored in a cool place.

Insert the sterile swab into one nostril until you feel slight resistance, then rotate the swab several times against the nasal wall. Repeat this process in the other nostril using the same swab. Insert the swab into the extraction buffer tube and rotate it for 10 seconds, then squeeze the tube sides to extract the liquid.

Reading and Interpreting Your Results

Apply exactly 4 drops of the extracted sample to the specimen well on the test cassette. Set a timer for 15 minutes and wait for the results to appear. Do not read results before 15 minutes or after 30 minutes, as this may lead to inaccurate interpretation.

Two lines indicate a positive result for COVID-19, even if the test line is faint. One line at the control position indicates a negative result. If no lines appear or only the test line appears without the control line, the test is invalid and should be repeated with a new kit.

Understanding Potential Test Limitations

Like all medicines, FlowFlex Antigen Rapid Covid Test can have limitations, although most people can use it safely. The test may occasionally produce false negative or false positive results, particularly if not performed correctly or if viral levels are very low.

The most common issues you might encounter include difficulty obtaining an adequate nasal sample, especially in young children, or misinterpreting faint lines on the test cassette. Some people may experience mild discomfort during the nasal swabbing process.

For additional health testing and monitoring needs, explore our first aid collection for comprehensive healthcare essentials.

Potential limitations and considerations include:

  • False negative results if viral load is too low to detect
  • False positive results due to cross-reactivity with other substances
  • Reduced accuracy in asymptomatic individuals
  • Temporary nasal discomfort during sample collection
  • Difficulty interpreting faint test lines
  • Invalid results if instructions are not followed correctly
  • Reduced sensitivity compared to PCR laboratory tests
  • May not detect all COVID-19 variants equally
  • Results may be affected by certain medications or nasal conditions
  • Test performance may vary with different sample collection techniques

If you experience these or any other side effects, speak to your doctor or pharmacist right away. For more information about reporting side effects please see the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
